Got a nice, well cared for Winchester 9422 from me LGS today. Finally after all these years, I got me one of the best 22 lever rifles ever made.
She wears a Redfield peep to boot. :d (The streaks on the wood & metal are from the clear panels in me porch roof.)

Savage B22 accuracy and mods

I just bought this last month and have only been out a couple times - pretty windy this past month in NB. I've found after a couple hundred rounds of various brands that my best accuracy has been with SK Standard Plus 40g-SV and Eley Sport 40g-SV. I got a few groups under 3/4" with these rounds. I haven't tried any 'more expensive' brands and don't plan to this year. I tried Fed AutoMatch and Herters bulk and they were OK but only ca. 1-1-/2" groups. Fed Gold Medal target was good, around 0.75" or so. I hope to get all these tighter after more practice and the rifle gets broken in a bit more. It's around 0-10* around here now, and if it's sunny I'll go out as long as the wind is around 10k or so but I don't want to go for accuracy if my fingers are numb
I took my Bushnell Engage 6-18x50 off my .308, but now I wish I would have bought the 6-24 or even better. The 50mm caused me to add the cheek riser - only $10 on amazon. The Engage has MOA reticle which is great for adjusting windage and hold-over. Yet since I'm not in competition I'm not that worried, this is good enough for this year. The B22 is shooting just a bit better than my Marlin 60 with a 4-16x40 Tasco side-focus.
I haven't reduced the trigger below the lowest factory yet, but plan to polish the 'innards' when I get a chance. It seems to be around 3# or a touch less, cranked as low as it will go. I did the 'locking pin repair' (found on u-tube) to avoid premature wear while I cleaned out the bolt (it had some mfg chips inside) and the action runs really smooth as-is. The barrel is 'just barely' floated and I plan to improve that, too. There is a 'removeable' liner in the forestock that can come out, but it leaves a large gap so I need to fab something to make that 'better". I got a couple extra mags and rounded a 'sharp' corner on the feed lip of all 3, but no further mods as yet.

My current .22lr set up.

Usually wears a 3-12x50 AO Hawke scope with an illuminated mil-dot ret.

However, I am trying to work out if the co mounted red dot is a nice option for quick shooting of animals you bump on the way to your stand when 8x56 isn't so helpful. The 8x56 is for shooting wild boar under the moon.

So, for my cheapness in experimentation, the 8x56 and red dot are on the .22 lr for some range sessions to see if it works/

One of mines, these are getting up in value I heard... CZ 452 FS, nice wood.
I added a TechSight peep rear sight and the front sight that comes with it.

I picked up a Savage B-22FV the other day. Fitted it with scope today. Range day tomorrow to sight in.

Second new rifle I've ever bought ... first is my Lakefield 64B that I bought in the early 90s.

JW25A "precision rifle" just installed the final scope rings, everything needs to be torqued to spec as it's all just finger tight but wanted to show off my latest build.

But here is how you can scope a Norinco copy of the K98k.

CZ 452 11mm EGW 20 MOA scope base rail
30 mm Burris Signature zee rings (weaver) Extra-high (6mmish of clearance between scope bell and rear sight)
Primary arms 4-14x44 FFP Mildot 30mm scope

Enough clearance for the bolt, and clears the rear sight, chin weld though unless you install a cheek riser. Now if anyone else wants to scope a JW25a here is a setup and some numbers to copy! You really need a scope base rail no matter what to get enough clearance over the rear leaf sight.
