Hello,
I recently acquired a new to me, used Robinson Arms XCL-R SN XL09*** cambered in 5.56.
Has anyone here in Canada had the Receiver Rear updated (by Wolverine) from the Type 1 to the Type 1 Modified, as noted within the Robinson Armament XCR Parts Identification web page. I see I would then also need to buy both the Type 2 bolt and Carrier.
All the other parts appear current.
For the most part this rife shoot rather well, and I have only experienced a couple of jams when the spent cartridge failed to fully eject, and this only occurred when the rifle was hot, so I am also thinking I upgrade to a 2016 Extractor, and the most current XCR Extractor Springs as well as the new Omni XCR Brass Deflector.
After doing some reading online, before my last trip up to the range, I cleaned and then put a lot of oil in and around the bolt and that seems to help.
I also noticed there is noticeable play between the lower and up that I can eliminate by pressing my thumb up against the main pin. This is this my first XCR I do not know what normal play would look like. Is it normal to the main pin to wear or is this movement between the upper and lower normal?
And finally, this is my first "Tactical" rifle. I understand that Oil does not play well within the gas system. Clearly, there is steal on steal wear within the moving parts fo the
Operating Rod & Recoil Springs, Spring Guide inner and outter.
After cleaning off the carbon from these parts and the inside of the tube, what is the best way to keep the parts lubricated without having too much oil in the system?
Thank for your time.
Rick
