Gate, as much as I actually do repect you and your veiws....other than the New King, I think you've lost it buddy. Can't imagine what is cool about a .303 in a No.1. So it's got a rim, I just don't get it. Could some one eslain it.
It's fun...

I have enough rifles that I can hunt the entire planet for the rest of my life and not need another....But this is about fun!
I've always wanted a Ruger #1, ...just never enough to buy one chambered in most cartridges (especially rimless cartridges) because I'd prefer it in a bolt action. All the rimless cartridges from .204 Ruger to .585 Nyati- I'd rather have in a bolt action...
However, I do like the .303 British cartridge, and, short of spending some good $$$ on a bolt action complete custom job, it's really only available in the big and heavy Enfield rifles or the SMLE.
So the rimmed .303 makes perfect sense in the #1, it's a great cartridge, it's got lots of Canadian history, and I know I will take it out to hunt blacktails on nice days, and I expect many will use it for all sorts of other beasts across Canada.
I'm not trying to convince anyone to buy into this, I don't really care what others feel are the best choice for themselves, but for me, this is the first time i've said "RUger #1 is the RIGHT choice".
