Ruger 10/22 Takedown Warranty Results

The last batch of 10-22 TD's didn't have the crooked sight problems like the first ones so it appears they reolved their problem. BTW were sold out of TD'd at the present. Phil.

Phil, it would be nice if Ruger dealers like your business would suggest to Ruger that they find a warranty repair center other than the one they currenty use in Quebec. Having one in the west would be nice.

I'm with you on that. Unfortunately Canadian dealers are often down the pecking order and with business being as strong as it is, manufacturers like Ruger are too busy making guns (and money) to worry too much about Canadian warranty. We will keep pushing with our distributors. Phil.

Just to bump this thread up.

What did Ruger send for a care package?

All this hype on these 10-22's has me thinking that maybe I should own one.
The last semi I had I loaned to a buddy and he put a new scope on it.
I guess that's the last I'll see of it.

Well I must say that I'm impressed with the customer service from Ruger USA. I declined to send the rifle back to Location Snapshots even though Ruger offered to pay for the shipping AND reimburse me for the previous shipping bill. I decided to polish the barrel scratches as best I can and live with it rather than deal with the Quebec warranty location again. Karla at Ruger was very understanding and told me that if I ever want to get the repair done again by Location Snapshots, that she would make sure it got handled correctly. Since I declined, she offered to send me a gift to help offset the expenses I have paid for shipping. I received my Ruger swag today, a really nice Carhartt hoody jacket with an embroidered Ruger crest. Sweet!

Anyone else send their Takedowns in for warranty repairs? I have the same issues with crooked rear site, chamber face imperfections, and I think I might also have mushrooming issue as well now, as its all of a sudden more difficult to assemble/disassemble. My warranty is up in May and I am debating whether I want to be without my only 10/22 for who knows how long, if its for no good reason.

Also wonder if I can use this example to get my shipping costs taken care of?

I'd get hold of Karla and see what she has to say and get her involved with the entire process.
She seem's willing to do it.

Personally....I'd send the entire gun back to Ruger head office and ask for a new one. The work done on your sights was totally butchered by the ham fisted retard who calls himself a Gunsmith. The Scotchbrite was obviously used to camouflage the scratches and shoddy workmanship. I know we're not talking about a $5000 firearm here, but it's a customers property and should have been treated as such.

Just an update for everyone. Ruger replaced the entire rifle for me and covered the shipping costs. I got a hold of them via their Facebook page, explained the multitude of issues mine had, and eventually the international warranty person got back to me advising they would do a complete replacement. It took about 1.5 months in total from shipping to snap shots and them getting the replacement and shipping back to me, but I'm happy with the result. The replacement rifle looks much better, going to go shoot it tomorrow to see how it does!

Nice! Mine had the crooked sight. WWS sent the barrel back and they got me a new one. Took a few months.

Thats amazing that Ruger tolerates that type of shoddy work from their repair centre. They seem like a upstanding company that will try to make things right. Hopefully they are looking for a replacement to do their Canadian work for them.

A proffesional shop would/should have had a site pushing tool to use for removing and installing sights without the the risk of punch marks.
Total crapp warrenty job you received there, and like others said, i would go straight to Ruger with your pics and story.
I am sure they would not approve of that POS job.

For sure,, disgracefull work

great.....I have my 10/22 takedown at Snapshots right now for warantee work. I'm a bit worried

the gun is a jamomatic right from the beginning. anything and everything was wrong with it. couldn't get through a magazine without multiple jams. double feeds, stovepipes, FTE, FTF, slam firing, firing out of battery. one trigger pull....two shots fired

I got a slam fire out out of battery which blew the mag out of the gun and got powder marks on my hands and shirt. I know it's only a .22 but it was a scary situation and glad it wasn't a bigger caliber.

I was told to send the gun to Snapshots in Quebec since they're the only repair center for Ruger in Canada

I hope the thing still runs when I get it back. the guy from Snapshots said it's most likely the bolt since he's had quite a few with bad bolts lately.

I think Ruger quality has gone down the toilet, and their repair center in Canada is a joke. it cost me $65 to mail the entire package in original box to Quebec.....if I have to mail it again I'm gonna be so pissed. even now I feel Ruger should reimburse me for the shipping cost to repair a gun that doesn't work from the factory.

does anyone know the email for Ruger in the US?

on a positive note.....I don't think they can butcher the cosmetics of the gun since everything is internal. I looked at their website and there's absolutely nothing there. haven't heard anything from Snapshots yet

I know this is an old thread but to help ease grandmasterp I did end up sending my takedown in. I think they just ended up swapping the barrel out. The rest of my rifle was original when I got it back. Total of 3 weeks from the time I mailed it to when I got it back. Works great now and haven't had any issues. Cycles even the junk ammo.

thanks, I hope they just end up swapping some parts out and not trying to fix anything. lol....from the sounds of it they don't exactly do great work

cosmetics don't mean as much to me as total reliability and safe to shoot....but I can understand people's frustration of getting a brand new gun back that looks like it's been worked on by an amateur

I'm a tool and die maker / machinist so I'm real critical of other people's work
