Ruger American Ranch

Wow, the factory rotary mags are the cheapest I have ever seen. The release tab broke off of mine today while removing the mag. I've ordered both the AR and AI mag conversion kits from Snapshots so we'll see which one works better.

Let me/us know which one you like less, and I may buy it.

Korth group says they don't do ruger orders anymore (but are listed on the ruger site!)
Snapshot hasn't responded to me after I sent the serial, and June @ Gravel says Ruger won't give her the part number PERIOD even if I consent to knowing it may not fit.

Snapshots wasn't able to get the AICS kit in FDE, only black or green. So I only have the AR kit coming. Here is the info I got from Ruger when I emailed them:

Yes, it is possible to convert your serial number

AR magwell assembly is part DBA30453-FDE

AI magwell assembly is part DBA30452-FDE

from a google, people said mini14 magazines would fit into their mini30, and even feed rounds from it.
If I didn't have a million expenses this year, a ruger american in 223, fed from mini14 mags, would be on my to do list.

Looking at getting a Ranch in 7.62x39.
Will the AICS magazines work with x39?

I know the AR style adapter will work with XCR style mags....just wondering on the AICS.

How are the factory Ruger x39 mags for the Ranch?....any good? ..... hard to source?

AICS won't run in a Stanag magwell, you could possibly find an aftermarket chassis system that would let you run AICS. Mini 30 mags are well made but sourcing can be hit and miss and likely a bit more expensive in Canada then XCR. They are available as dedicated 5 rounds or regular capacity pinned to 5.

Edit, Just read the post above yours regarding AICS magwells, I did not realize that was an option for the Ruger Amercian Ranch rifles....

They're Mini-30 mags and work well. I could not find any for sale, that's why I bought the AR mag conversion.

So besides being hard to source, the 5rd Ruger x39 factory magazine magazine works well....ok good to know.

I recall back in the day the XCR 10rds x39 mags seemed to work best with only 8rds.

Regarding mag release, any pros/cons of factory release setup vs the mag adapter release system?
