Ruger M77 MKII Stainless 7.62X39

Judging by your collection I pretty much assumed as much.... But I couldn't help myself.... That being said you will always get an "I always wanted one of those" buyer for it on the EE.....

I already did get an offer for the canoe paddle stock from this thread... but I am keeping the original stock pending possible resale...

Nothing missed, just assumed it was the natural progression for you loading 7.62x39.

Lyman puts 2 grains less of h335 in a 7.62x39 for a 123 grain bullet compared to a 30-30. Like I said, I'd be interested in hearing your load development in 7.62x39 using 150 grain bullets and LVR (or any powder really).

Love to know the bore size on the Zastava M85. Sorry for highjacking the thread with my random thoughts about this cartridge.

At this point I have only loaded with 27.0 grains of H4895 with 150 SST's (.308")... for this particular rifle... in the past I have used 322, 355 and 3031. LVR has become my favorite powder in .30/30, so I will likely try it in this M77 MKII as well... I'm heading to the range with the first batch in the morning... will report back when done.

This load produced 1/2" groups at 100 yds. from both my rifle and my amigo's Ruger back in the 90's.

25 gr. IMR 4198 behind 150 gr.(.308) Speer soft points, ignited by Lapua bench rest primers & using Lapua brass. Velocity averaged at 2252 fps. Not shabby at all.

Both our rifles produced groups inside of .750" as well using 27gr. of 4198 behind the .310" Hornady 123 gr. SP
using the same brass & primer at an average speed of 2529 fps.

These loads stressed neither the rifles or brass & work well in these Rugers.

First group at 100 yards with 27.0 grains H4895 & 150 SST .308"... squares are about 15/32" (smudge under half inch);

Both, the load and I, need a little work....

Great thread! I have a Zastava M85 that I bedded and free floated the barrel. It often shoots 1.5" groups at 100M with surplus. I just got a set of Lee dies in the mail and am looking to develop a load for it. I guess I should slug the bore to find out exactly what I have. I bought .310 Hornady bullets to try off the hop. I guess I'll be doing this all trial and ERROR as I'm new to rifle reloading.

I've done plenty of shotgun reloading but man this is a whole other game with rifles.
