Savage 10TR le/military

Came across a pic of a TR with paint job and wondering if one of you made one on yours ?
Make me think why not give a try one day ? Maybe not the same job as the picture but something more military.
Any thoughts ?

I know some guys have pulled off longer range shots with the 10TR (Condomboy at 900meters?), but it was the first time I took mine out beyond 300 meters. We were perched up on one side of the valley and we had steel gongs and balloons set up at 475 meters, 625 meters, and 690 meters on the other side. It was the first time that I encountered a scenario where wind actually affected our shots, and the wind direction on the top of our perch was actually going in a different direction where the target gongs were, who knows what was going on in the valley. Anyway, excuses aside, I did okay at 475 and 625, but I’ll have to work on the 690 next time.

It was pretty cool watching the gong move, then hear the sound of the hit a few seconds later.

when I was in meters I got 953m off the gong... but who's counting ;)

yeah, metal is great for that, nice to have the feedback

Just need to get the camera facing the other way looking through a spotting scope to see what you're actually doing. When you start to get out there and you are spotting, it's very cool to be able to see the vapour trail the bullet leaves as it flies through the air.

Sorry, 953 meter....holy crap, that still blows my mind. Yeah, when I was spotting for a pal of mine, I could see the vapor trail. I tried to get it on film, but I just held my camera up to the crappy spotting scope and filmed it, you can sort of see it at full resolution on a larger screen. I think I'll bring my other camera next time as it has a 36x built in zoom and just have it pointed at the target next time instead of trying to hold the camera up to the spotting scope, haha!

yes pic display in my last post is the TR issued in the USA with 20'' barrel. But Im talking about the camo paint job. Wondering if some of you guys did a paint job on his TR ?

Someone on the previous page painted his stock green, but not sure if anyone here's painted their whole rifle yet. My buddy's going to cerekote his barrelled action FDE to match some of the furniture already on his rifle:

Gotta love the Horny Steel Match... good choice if you don't reload or if you do reload but don't have any made and handy.

Just wrapped mine back up, talked to the warranty depot in Ontario and they said to send it up, just before wrapping it I put a straight edge along the rail,, both sides it was very obvious that is the problem so I hope they can fixer up, I want to be doing what you fellas are, looks like a bunch of fun!

Did anyone ever own up to owning this rifle or where it was done . I'm thinking of doing something similar but only if I could get it done really silly ,maybe Marvin the Martian !!!!

legion from this thread posted Savage has a drop in replacement part that swaps out bottom metal out for Accustocks so it can take AI mags:

http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1156553-What-would-be-fair-market-value-for-a-Savage-accustock

Ahem, about 6 months ago I called Savage about the bottom metal and mag bottom replacement (needed for a Boyd stock) and I was quoted $60 and $20 respectively.

Well, I’m not making this stuff up:

H ttp://www.midwayusa.com/product/164425/ptg-trigger-guard-for-aics-detachable-box-magazine-savage-10-series-short-action-with-44-screw-spacing-top-bolt-release-aluminum-black

When you called Savage for bottom metal replacement, did you ask if it was a total drop-in replacement unit for an Accustock (that was set up to take the Savage 4 round magazine) to convert it so that it could take Accuracy International Magazines with no modifications to the stock whatsoever? It’s a straight re-and-re?

If they had such a product, I’m sure that a great many Savage 10TR owners would be VERY interested in such a unit for $60 and $20 respectively. In fact, I have 4 friends who have Savage 10TRs, who have cash on hand right now and are waiting for a telephone contact, name of representative and parts numbers so they can order these parts.

Call Savage at (413) 568-7001 and they'll give you the part numbers and prices based on the action and stock.

Any of you guys heard of this part? I can’t make LD calls on my cell or my work phone, but if this were possible, that means you guys can run AI mags instead of dropping $150 bones on the Dark Eagle mags.

I haven't heard of that. You'd think if it were true it would be fairly well known. If it's true and is a simple installation with no fitting issues I would be all over it.
