Savage 10TR le/military

I'm just using a cheap Millett LRS 6-25x56mm, illuminated mildot/bar reticle with .1mil clicks. Has a 35mm main tube so I just used the rings it came with, which are tall enough to clear a flat top. It's inexpensive glass, but seems to work fine for my needs.

Update on my 10 tr, the repair station recieved my rifle on nov. 26th, the got to look at it last week, what I and some others that had this problem thought was the rail holes were driled wrong, based on the repair guys the runout test( have to admit I do not know exactly what that is) failed so a new barrel is ordered!! that will be at least 2-3 months the girl said, as Savage has to renew their import paperwork!?! So I was hoping to get it back before spring but now it looks like later for sure! She didn't seem to optimistic!!
So the silver lining is, I need a target rifle to get started on and up till now was looking at another savage, but wow does anyone know if this is normal wait times for all brands of rifles warranty work in Canada? I watch all you fellas out doing workups on your rigs and personalizing them etc. I was hoping to be farther along in my entry into Long range shooting. Any suggestions?

I heard similar stories with Remington warrantees, sorry to hear man. When you get it back, hopefully it won't take long to catch up. I shot mine out of the box with just a brake and glass and it was doing reasonable grous (see first few pages of this thread), and it was only my second time ever shooting a bolt gun. Yours hopefully will perform out of the box with little or no mods :)

Well that doesn't bode well for mine getting sorted before summer. Oh well, gives me time to save for a new chassis.

Is yours at Grechoutdoors repair depot? Mine shot 3 feet to the right at 100 yards! They say it is barrel runout so am waiting for a new barrel, I am hoping that fixes it, I wonder could the reciever be threaded crooked? We will know in a few months if savage gets their crap together on the import licenses! Good luck!
If yours doesn't have that particular problem then you may get it back quicker, as long as they don,t need parts from the U.S. It took them close to 2 months to even look at it!

Yes, they received it 2 weeks ago so it will be a while. Hopefully by then Savage will have their paperwork sorted. Sounds like the same issue that mine is having, 3' right, 2' high.

Well good luck I hope that was the problem and we get them back soon,,ish, watching and reading about all these guys that got a good one is p!$$ing me off, lol, I need to start looking for a better scope albeit as inexpensive as I can, Mister Donut if you don't mind me asking how far out can you reasonably get with your Millet?

I've reached out to 625m so far, but I know another guy on these forums, illae who ran his out to 800m without problems.

Speaking of my Millett, I just picked up a new mount for it.

Previous set up. Yeah, I know, what the hell was I trying to prove using three rings. Had extra rings, and there was space so I tried it....not that I could tell a difference between two versus three.

Anyway, using an American Defence one-piece unit now, bought a few millimetres closer to the bore:

I was thinking about running a lower mount, but I have the AD-Recon-SL on my other rifle and the flip cap does not fit between the objective and the flat-top handguard. I figured I'd run into similar issues with this one so I tried the AD-Recon-S model with the 10TR.

Cool, nice rigs, so where is the best place to pick up a millet, and where did you get that awesome hard case??

I got the Millet from Reliable Gun and the case from Cabela's. Mind you, some people really hate the Millett. If I could afford another Bushnell HDMR, I probably would, but the Millett will do for now.

I have a newbie question. AMMO?? I wont be reloading any time soon. Plan is to shoot the ORC clinic and the matches.
What is a good ammo for this setup with out killing the bank. As a newbie I want good but not expensive.

Vortex 6-24
Burris signiture zee

I had good luck with Hornady Steel Match... if you can find it. Was about $1.10 a shot, comes in a box of 50

Was it with Hornady Steel that you reached out to 953m??? Steel Match is 155gr?

I've been finding 168gr Nosler Match getting a little funny past 650m, but might be wind at that point. Going to try some 175gr SMKs next time I go out.

that is correct.

not sure what bullet is loaded in the Noslers but I have heard that the 168SMK can get a little unstable transitioning to subsonic
