You could buy a rail from someone like Ken Farrell, ATRS or others, or you could keep the stock rail and then mount your scope in a LaRue +20 MOA PSR mount. Might be a hair high but it would work well with a flat rail and an adjustable cheekpiece.

I know what you mean, Ive been pinching pennies and trying to swap some other guns around to be able to fund and grab this one just because it's too hard to resist. Doesnt help when people dangle "limited time" in front either; really gets the itch to buy to go.

IF a service number is all that is required, what's to stop a person from providing a fake SN. I don't think Savage can confirm a legit SN.

Hi, I just saw this thread and I'm just getting into bolt action rifles, don't know much about them. By the looks of the last three pages, this is a pretty smoking deal, is it still available?
It would not be to hard for SFRC to verify a service number if they so chose too. The how is irrelevant but it could be done, and easily.
Would suck to be the dude that got caught doing it, as I imagine with being a dealer member of this website and a community this small word would get around. Poor guy might end up having to buy all his gun stuff out of country or at the 3 guns shops that aren't on CGN lol

Yes low life.... agreed there... but impersonating a peace officer only works if done in performance of duty.
more importantly, if someone wanted to do this, the only thing stopping them would be having to make up a service number. (remember folks service numbers have 1000 digits)
provided that someone is so ethically challenged that they lie to purchase a discounted rifle, that is their business.
But I hope in whatever afterlife there is, they end up in a room full of real veterans.

So, it is a good deal? I was looking at the Remington 700 5R an d the 700P, and that goes for about $1200-1300 retail depending on the place. This one seems to have similar specs as far as the barrel is concerned, but I'm not sure about the stock. Is the Accu stock on par with the HS Precision stock? I tried to find specs and cost on the 10TR but the closest I could find was the 10FP, but that doesn't come with the threaded barrel. The FP goes for about $899.99, and 'm not sure if the TR has the same stock as the FP. Does the TR have the alluminum bedding?
