Sellers Market for the CZ858!

What the hell is up with this part of the bill?

Authorization to transfer non-restricted firearms

23 (1) A person may transfer a non-restricted firearm if, at the time of the transfer,
(a) the transferee holds a licence authorizing the transferee to acquire and possess a non-restricted firearm;

(b) the Registrar has, at the transferor’s request, issued a reference number for the transfer and provided it to the transferor; and
(c) the reference number is still valid.

They're going to make us register our transfers of non-restricted firearms? I don't understand. So in order to sell a non-restricted firearm, in order for it to be a legal transfer, we will be required to call in a transfer and get a reference number for it? What do you guys make of this?

You will have to contact the CFO to verify that someone's PAL is valid, and you will be issued a reference number for that verification.

This grandfathering is only an enticement for the owners of these firearms to register them as prohibs . Once they are registered and the govt. knows who owns them , then they will refuse to issue ATTs , and the rifle will become an expensive paper weight . Right now , the govt. has no firm idea as to who owns them ; so they have to entice folks with false promises in order get them to register them .

Yep, that's how they got AK owners, first they became restricted and people registered them, then they became prohib.

I have many prohibs in my safe in the basement that haven't seen a range since 2005 ..dont think for a minute that your att (SAP)will be around forever they did not even warn us when they stopped issuing them we all got a letter saying it was for our own good that we are no longer allowed to shoot them ..still have that letter somewhere

You should scan and post that letter. Fool me once...

Please start a thread and post a picture of the letter. Gum owners that are not aware need to understand that this 12.9 is strictly for confiscation.

x3. If you or anyone else has a copy of the ATT refusal letter that can be redacted and reposted, it would help us greatly with fighting today's BS.

And what are the odds that at the moment of this "Transfer" they want the serial number, make and model before they give up the "number"

Exactly. The bill states that the requirements for all firearms sales is the record of make, model, serial number, caliber. Then it also states.

Information — transferee’s licence

(2) The transferee shall provide to the transferor the prescribed information that relates to the transferee’s licence, for the purpose of enabling the transferor to request that the Registrar issue a reference number for the transfer.

Reference number

(3) The Registrar shall issue a reference number if he or she is satisfied that the transferee holds and is still eligible to hold a licence authorizing them to acquire and possess a non-restricted firearm.

Period of validity

(4) A reference number is valid for the prescribed period.

Registrar not satisfied

(5) If the Registrar is not satisfied as set out in subsection (3), he or she may so inform the transferor.

I'm pretty bad at understanding how politicians word their mumbo jumbo. So at this time, take what I say with a grain of salt until someone from CSSA or CCGR comes forward and gives us all the facts. I'm just reading the bill and taking it as I understand it.

Biggest thing here is though, I smell a Long Gun Registry without actually calling it one.

This exactly.

Wouldn't they shet their pants if no one registered them?

Registration = confiscation........just a matter of time.

I think they added this to end gun shows. You cannot verify on weekends!

Iam wondering this as well as there are a few shows coming up next month.....wondering how many undercover will be walking around trying to purchase without verification and ready to shut people's booths down

You don't have to worry about this untill the bill comes into force (summer/fall?). So get em while you can....

Basically tldr.

Register your $1000.00 prohib rifle and in 10 years plus you may not be able to use it.

Or you can pay more to have it turned into a NR that will prob be deamed a varient of a prohib rifle and also end up on 12 (9) prohib list lol.

Anyone have a 3d printer? My CX4 is plastic.

Don't they think that making these rifles prohib might drive them underground? Didn't that nutcase in Barrhead have a prohib? I'm sure they'd be worth more on the black market at some point, and it would be an easy way for someone with zero morals to ditch one for a good buck.

It's plain stupid to make these guns hot potatoes. They're in good hands now, so leave them there!

I had one on the table on the weekend, but short barrel, so already papered, a few looked at it, but the short barrel was a turnoff, and the fellow that really wanted it for 750.oo with a bunch of extras had no money , just a bunch of crap to trade. It is the 2002 sport.
Will see what happens when it happens, I have been though all this stupid crap with FN'S 12-2's so old news.

Even better is the one shop that bought all the remaining SA from the supplier and is telling people to buy just to get grandfathered :D

Guessing the turd did them shops a favor :D

I read the whole Bill C-71. The things I commented on tonight are how I understood what I just read. I also watched the Power & Politics segment on Bill C-71 and watched Solomon VS Wendy. I think I've done a fair amount of homework on this topic and tomorrow I will read how the Vendors understood this new bill when they read it. Once I have a better understanding of this bill, or find that what I understood matches others, then I will begin writing to MP's and the PM. It may be worthless to write to them but things need to be done. When the NFA kind of went wacko, I never renewed a membership with them or with any other group. I think tomorrow I will be getting a membership to both CCRA and CSSA. The fight is on guys and gals and I hope to encourage you all to do the same if you have not.
