Service Rifle NOOB wannabe questions

On PEI we just started doing a few courses of fire. I set up a few courses of fire and next year we hope to run 4-5 courses of fire once a month on Wednesdays and maybe we'll do an 8 course of fire match during the year. Next year I hope that we are more active and have a few shooters do some matches in NB and NS. Any suggestions for an optic? My 1x4 is in milrads with hold over reticle and I hate it and love it all at the same time I think a 2-7 would be the cats meow.

Hi Guys,
Thank you for the great introduction to SCC in this thread. It sounds like an awesome game, and I am definitly interested in giving it a go. I have a couple questions to get me started.
1) optics- what are we really looking for here. Magnification, adjustability,( say 3-15 scope with tactical turrets) vs Elcan or acog like ballistic retical? Obviously good glass, cost good money, would really appreciate some good consideration here, as I don't have current optics of either kind and would like to start getting set up.
2) courses and clinics in 2016. I have heard of the milcun range and school and will be checking them out. Are there other courses or clinics being offered this year? I live in Winnipeg, so I believe will have to travel.
3) Any Manitoba SC shooters that are willing to train with a noob?
I find excuses to come out to BC a couple of times a year, is there anyone out there willing to take a noob under wing, and help me get started up the learning curve?
Thanks in advance, and I am really looking forward meeting and shooting with you guys in 2016.

I am taking over as Section Chairman in NS. We run a full set of matches. For those in the Mariitimes PM me and we can discuss.

We all shoot "for the fun of it". We compete against ourselves - not against others.

My challenge is to get through a shoot, doing the right things at the right time, without dropping anything.

It depends on how bad your eyes are, I know a shooter who can't tell when targets come up at 500 and goes to prone or runs up when the other shooters start moving. Once shooting the optic makes hits possible.
