Shooting ducks on the water? :)

So I'm curious -- who here shoots ducks on the water?

I know a lot of guys find it un-sporting. I personally have no problem with it, particularly because I do a lot of walking and stalking on the coast here. If I walk a half mile of bog to sneak up on a black duck, you'd better believe I'll shoot it, whether it sees me or not. Everybody I hunt with is the same here, although we generally prefer to get them feet down in dekes. But that isn't always possible, especially if you're walking. Or, right after liftoff works pretty well too.

We have to do that here with sea ducks. Wait until they drift in then smack them.

You poor thing. You jumped to a bunch of conclusions and made several posts implying that I was breaking the law and/or endangering other hunters, now you are all hurt because you have poor reading comprehension and someone dared to post the killing of some domestic animals in the HUNTING forum. I know you are a newb and all, but it's not the first time we've strayed a little off topic in both this and the Hunting Firearms forums.

All this despite spank posting that they were domestic ducks shortly after I posted!!

Maybe you need to calm down a little and understand that you aren't in charge of what people post? And next time, maybe try to just read posts, instead of reading into them what does not exist. These are just suggestions- I won't presume to tell you how and what to post.

The only thing I am newb about is seeing a 11 year member with a ton of posts trolling on a HUNTING Forum which is real sad and now back peddling and trying to justify it and even worse blaming others for this going off the rails

A simple comment these are domestic ducks after the first inquiry would have taken care of all of this BS. BUT you were not trolling YA RIGHT
You are correct however that it is a good thing for you I am not a mod here since you would be in full pink right now for your games because that is what you were playing Plain and simple as you know it
Oh yes this old dog doesn't get butt sore.Daughter says there is no name for what I get what ever she means by that

Yep we do. Got serious for me when a gentleman in a blind I was guiding took a 22 bullet in his hand from an idiot shooting from the window of his truck at our decoys and then when that poor guide took one in the side of the head and died from another 22 bullet ripped at waterfowl we got real serious
Very Hard it is clear for a barn yard farm shooter to grasp that and undersatnd why we get excited when we hear using a 22 and waterfowl in the same conversation

I only harvest ducks on the wing, but they must be wearing jewelry before I pull the trigger...............your all amateurs.;)

You are dead right 3macs1! We dont need anymore of these "accidents" and the mention or idea of .22 for waterfowl should be squashed immediately, regardless of how serious or not the comments are. I personally experienced a .22 bullet fly by me when sitting in a blind while hunting geese over decoys on a lake. No idea where the shot came from, but luckily it was way off the mark. I'll never know the true source of the round fired in my direction, but it makes the hair on my neck stand when i think about it.

Gatehouse is a smart dude... he posted in a very precise manner to get the exact reaction he got... he "trolled," he got "bites."

For the record, I am not categorically against trolling... rather enjoy the lively discussion it spuriates...

I agree.... on both points.... But much prefer it doesn't end in the member who got trolled being belittled... A la post 202....

Same here. Perhaps if they had it happen to them they would understand where we are coming from. But that would require real hunting from a blind :)
Cheers

Thought I would share what another member just sent me. Said Joe just let it go we all know what you are dealing with here and it is not worth it. Yep that sums it up :)

1. Don't group me with Gatehouse.
2. If you have a beef, then report it, this complaining is getting old.
3. I have experienced more than my fair share of "lead rain."
