Shorten PAL Approval Times

Hi I'm new here, figured I'd put up my partial timeline and thank those who made/contributed to the thread. I challenged and passed my pal and rpal a number of years ago but never completed the process.

Recevied on october 25th.
Interview November 18th
Last reference November 22
Issused November 22

I wasn't in a rush (clearly). Considering one of my references was away til today I'd say that's pretty speed and less than a month. Off to too the newbie forum I go.

Is there any way I can speed up the process of them entering it into the system and getting it online or do I have to wait for it to get entered into the system before I can call and speed things along? I sent my application away on the fifth of November and I'm getting impatient.

There's nothing that can be done to get it in the system faster. Relax, they can't issue it before 28 days anyway, and it's backdated to the date received at the post office. Mine took just over 2 weeks to get entered AFTER they got it (11 business days).

Same as above, Dumantepe. Mine was 11 business days in their hands before it showed up online, but it's back dated to the received day. So if you have it showing as delivered 2 weeks ago, then you deduct that from the 28 day manditory waiting period.

I forgot about the long weekend we had as well.

Well I got a frantic barrage of text messages from my first reference. He managed to screw up how long he's known me and answered "February of '09". Not 3 years... Disqualified.

I called the 800 number with my File number, explained he has known me for quite some time (".. At least since mid 2008") and they're allowing him to continue as a reference. So they seem to be a pretty cool bunch down there! Just hope he doesn't make any more mistakes :S

Another reason I got old school friends and family members. They've known me longer than they care to admit

Mailed it away over 30 days ago... Still isnt online. Phoned in, they havent seen it. Lost somewhere :( Should have sent it registered like it said the OP. Booooooo filling out another form, getting everyone to sign again. What a pain.

Man thank god for this tutorial. I had my restricted application in progress for the last 34 days so I decided to call in and it appears they didn't see my safety course paper in there so I asked the guy to check again if he could and came back, he said it was there but "appeared" to be one piece of paper and was sorry for the delay and he will push the processing along now and to call back on Monday for the interviews of me and my references.

:dancingbanana:
Thanks again for all the great info guys

I didnt know I could call in just happened to notice this.

So my application was received Nov7-2011, my concern is one of my reference is marked evening. Is this going to be a problem?

Should I call in? Also my number another reference's number is a mobile number and sometimes at home the reception is garbage. I am afraid we will miss the call or the call will drop. My references are solid tho, they have PAL/RPAL and one is in the Army. Will they even call them?

I am not worried about calling if its reasonable which I think it is in my case but I dont wanna piss them off and put me on the bottom of the pile either lol:p

Is it too early to call them and bug them?

Calling in and having your references call in the very second it appears online is the fastest and most effective way of getting your application throug the system. Once it appears online have at it, there's nothing you can do before that however.

Talked to the BC CFO today and got approved over the phone after chatting for about a half hour. Great guy to deal with. About an hour later I looked online and saw this:

Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued.

Almost 4 full months to process, but worth the wait! Looks like I'll have it just in time for christmas.

Wohoooo!!
Finally got my rPAL. It was probably in the mail yesterday but opened the mail box today. w:h:
I never knew this day will come to be real. I always thought it was so far fetched.

Good luck to those who have applied :p

Now to go gun shopping

Hmm wonder why the wait

Wife got called for interview on Friday and they called her (our) references and moved her to issued status. They interviewed me last week and when the reference asked if they could interview for me at the same time were told not yet Wonder what gives there. Only thing I can think of is they haven't finished the background check. Because of the credit card mixup I am about 3 days behind my wife. I hate waiting for this stuff but I do have a passport and squeaky clean criminal record so don't foresee a problem. Agghhhhhh just impatient
Wally

I gave them a call today and it was a rejected credit card...she said maybe someone couldn't read it or whatever so I did it there. She then put me straight through to the interview. Nice. I asked what the next steps were nd was told they would interview my references and the move to the CFO. Naturally I texted my references to let them know.
cheers
Wally

I called the AB CFO on friday and talked to a really nice woman who explained that due to hunting season they hadn't even started looking at applications they'd received in October. She put me on hold for about 5 min and came back to say she had approved it and it should be in the mail in 10 days. Sweet!! I was beginning to think they had found something during the background checks! One of those nights I don't remember?! LOL, It's all good now, time to go Xmas shopping!
