Shorten PAL Approval Times

CFC received my RPAL application jan 18.
Application was online by the 25th
Myself and references were called Feb. 8 th
Checked the website at 2:30AM today (the 15th) and see:
Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued.

so another week of waiting at the mailbox?

edited to add: didn't ask my references but my questions were just the "in the last 5 years...." and "in the last 2 years..." ones from the RPAL application and "What do you need a restricted licence for?"

Regarding the last question, the answer should be, "To buy a handgun," or "None of your damn business!" Sometimes I really dislike the nanny state...
 
Just thought I would add my timeline in...

So, courses were taken in August(PAL)/November(RPAL)

...stupid me didn't find out that you didn't have to wait for the course results to send your app in... so everything was sent out January 20th...

app received in NB on the 23rd
app showed up online: January 27th
interview of me and one reference: February 7th
second reference (due to missed call): February 8th
Now I'm on a waiting game it seems... 28 day waiting period end is on February 20th


does everyone suggest calling in on the 28th day to check in? or should I wait a few days after if it doesn't clear on the 20th

Its been sitting on the desk at the Ontario CFO office for 4 months now (since early October). I have called pretty much weekly and every time the person looks it up and forwards me to the direct line of the person who has my application (they wont give me the number but will redirect me no problem). Each and every time I leave voice mail with my name, application number, date of birth, and phone number and I have as of yet to receive a return call.

I am told that on the system there are no holds or issues listed and all it needs is final approval.

My current theory is that the person who has my application has died and no one she works with knows yet. They all think shes on vacation or something.

February 14 my status changed to issues. So 205 days (0.56 years) since I took the exam.

I mailed in my results first week of August, wasn't received until September (Canada Post lost it for a month), moved on to the Ontario CFO in early October, and the Ontario CFO took over 4 months to approve it.

only 7 days till it showed up online? Im jealous, i've been waiting since feb 2nd for mine to show up online.
 
PAL to RPAL Updgrade - No Exam

Jan. 24 - Status updated - Completed initial processing, in progress. Note there is no 28 day waiting period as I am an existing license holder.
Jan. 26 - Called, told that the application is waiting to be scanned, no issues.
Jan. 30 - Called, no issues with application, had interview.
Feb. 2,3 - Both references were contacted, wife was not.
Feb. 7 - Status updated to 'License Issued - receive within 2 weeks'

Not bad at all, will update when the card arrives.

Card in mailbox on Feb - 15th. So that's 37 days door to door for PAL upgrade to RPAL.
 
Im already kind of pissed. I have seen NO progress and I sent my app in and of January.

ALL I WANT is to see it go up online! i've called twice already and they just say wait more blah blah blah.

This whole process is a massive pain in the ass.
 
It is a massive pain in the ass. For some more than others and I can see little pattern to it all. I think it is a conscious effort to choke new prospective gun owners with red tape till they go away.

Don't lose resolve! I am sure it will be any day.
 
I challenged both PAL and RPAL tests, my application arrived in Miramichi on Jan.20 I checked the website this morning before leaving for work and they showed approved. Now just to wait for Canada Post!
 
I faxed in my results on the 10th and still haven't seen a change in my online status... have called a few times.. first time the person said that the fax machine was on a different floor and 2nd I was told to wait.. does anyone know an extension of someone who would be more helpful.. like someone on the same floor as the fax machine?
 
Hey guys sorry maybe I should be starting a new thread. I sent my paperwork in on jan. 25. When I punch in my info exactly as it should be I get "error 500-internal server error" but if I change it so it's wrong I get their proper web page saying "We do not have any information that matches this data. If the data is correct please check your application status again at a later date." i called last week and told them what was happening and they said call back next week anybody have any ideas or had same thing happen to them? I'm going to call this afternoon again. Thanks guys!
 
so after being told to call back end of this week if it didnt show up online, now they say i have to wait another week and call back then.

WTF?????

Either means they haven't added it to the system, or it hasn't arrived yet.

Did you send it registered mail? Just because you 'sent' it on the 25th, doesn't mean it was received anytime soon. If it was only received last week, expect it on the website next week sometime.

Tell them that you were told that once already, and inform them you have the signed acceptance stating they received it on ***** date. (same as above, this is only possible to do if you sent it registered).

If they've only had it a week, don't expect it online right away, it takes a while for them to get through their inbox and input all your info.

thanks. they have had it since feb 2nd. thats just over 2 weeks. I would think they could AT LEAST get it online by now.
 
Your timeline isn't that different than mine was, you should expect it online either tomorrow or Friday. At that point, you should be able to call and get your interview out of the way.
 
Thanks guys. It seemed like their server was messing up it only did the error thing when I put in right info when I put in wrong info website worked. Huh. Anyway it don't matter I just checked and it's actually working. I must have tried it fifty times in the last week. Lol. It says received on the second. So is it 28 business days or just straight 28 days? Thanks guys
