Shorten PAL Approval Times

I'm in BC. I sent my renewal request one month before PAL expired. PAL expired already three month ago. Called CFO two day ago and was told that they are swamped with work. I asked them on what date's applications they are currently working but they refused to say.
It seem to me that rcmp purposely are stalling process and try to make renewal process as uncomfortable as possible.

so heres my PAL experience. took my non restricted on the 10th of feb. mailed in on the 12th. according to the rcmp website they recieved it on the 19th of feb. checked every daY SINCE AND today the 27th of march it says its been issued. expecting it within a Week. Im in BC. so thats 43 days from the time i mailed it in to the time they issued it. cant wait to spend the money ive been saving while i wait :)

Lucky, they received mine on february 15, and it is still showing as processing...

you can call them. but i wouldnt bother till about 2-3wks after you mail in your aplication. read the very first post on this thread. it will give you all the information you need and the number to call them. hope that helps.

an update on my status

mailed in registered and it was received mar 1st
Showed up online on Mar 22nd
Phoned in today (mar 28th) and they weren't sure if my application was ready for interviews....but she gave it the once over and let me do my interview.

References will call in on Tuesday.

So here is my timeline, application arrived Mirimachi on Feb21, on line march 14, last interview was completed today at 4pm pacific time. Checked online at 6 pm and it was listed as processed and issued, call if not received within 2 weeks.

Total time 37 days.

That's a good question, I heard that it was not a given that your references would be called if it's just a PAL. Anyone know if that's true?

I've been researching this for the past 3 weeks and what I have found is that when applying for a PAL it is not a guaranteed your ref's are called. Some have some haven't. When applying for rPAL they are always contacted. So I would say it is definitely not a given your ref's are contacted when only applying for a PAL.

none of my references were called and i did not have to give an interview. non-restricted.

Thanks for the feedback. I have also found that those only applying for non-restricted PAL usually have shorter wait times. Although not having ref's contacted would certainly play into that.

I'm not a praying man, but I see my dad for a week once a year, we never do anything but golf (I dislike golf but it's his life) and this year I was praying I'd get my license before I see him in march 13th. Prayers come true!! Jk, the guy finally got off his ass and did something for once! I'm going to go shooting with my dad :D

When i got my non restricted they didnt contact me or my references at all. I checked the status on my application the day after my 28 day wait period was up and it said it was issued. Got it exactly a week later. It took them forever to cash the cheque i sent them though!
