Shorten PAL Approval Times

So............, and ?????????

I received my 1st purchase.
Heritage Rough Rider .22 LR 6-shot Single-Action, 6.5 barrel with adjustable sights.
Still waiting for Club LT-ATT
Then I couldn't resist.
I just ordered (from DLASK) the GSG 1911 with a trigger job (pull adjusted down to about 2.5-3lbs)

My 3rd acquisition (gotta love this word. The PAL says Acquisition not "buying";
and PAL sounds friendlier than PBL) would have to be a Double-action revolver
(although I'm in no great hurry. I already shoot one of the club's DAs in SA mode anyway.)

Now that I have one (in) and another (on the way) occupants for my gun case (for two),
another waiting game starts: Th Club-sponsored LT-ATT.

Has anyone ever tried to get a medium term-ATT to take the restricteds to the range while waiting for the LT-ATT???????????

Today I checked again and it said this!!
"Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000) "

Lucky for me I get to go home and skip that mess. If its not here in 3 weeks once I return Id be supprised.

All things considered, Im kinda glad Ontario is so back logged; more money for ammo next year :)

and it gives you something to look forward to, after the parties and orgies of the New Year.............
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...........

Just kidding of course about the ......... festivities.

As advised by a lady-officer at the CFC during my confirmation call on Monday (immediately after my application status on-line changed to "in progress") I waited until the end of the week and called them again Friday morning for an interview. I got the interview done after roughly two minutes on-hold and once done I asked if I can get my references to call in. I was given an extension number to quote and an hour later it was all done.

Few observations: while I was polite and friendly at all times, I was very surprised that the "agents" on-line were just as polite and friendly, if not more. During my dealings with the CFO I was never left feeling uneasy or uncomfortable, they were always helpful and plain nice. I even got to hear a "Merry Christmas" at the end, which I found to be especially pleasant considering political incorrectness of the "Christmas" idea in Canada (or so I've heard).

All in all, this was by far THE BEST treatment I have ever received from any government agency (or any public service employees for that matter) - live or on the phone - to date. Two Thumbs Up!

Thanks to the practical and accurate advice of the original poster of this awesome thread I'm positive I have a good chance of receiving my PAL after a shortest wait possible.
Thank you calalta, and Merry Christmas to all!

I had my interview, and my refs were both called and grilled for about 2 to 3 minutes a few days ago. Today is 28 days after the day they received my app. Is there any point in calling them today, or should I give them a few more days??

I have a quick question.
I mailed my RPAL licence into New Brunswick and it was recieved Nov 3. My phone interview and my references interviews were done Dec 2 and my application was given to the CFO on Dec 3. I called the CFC Dec 13 and was told that it was with the CFO for final approval and to call back in a weeks time. I called back yesterday (Dec 20) and was told that it was with the CFO for final approval and to check back in a weeks time. Should I call the Alberta CFO directly and inquire about the application? I was not told there was anything missing by the CFC so I was under the impression that I was good to go. Is 3 weeks normal for the CFO to finalize an application? Is there a telephone number which I can get a hold of the CFO? All I can find is an address and fax number for an office in Edmonton. Thanks

It usually doesn't take that long, I followed exactly what was written in this thread and I was approved on the 28th Day, you've gone past that substantially, my saying is: When in doubt pick up the phone and call. Your best bet would be call the CFC, work your way into the menu, and then just press 0. That will usually put you right to an agent, if anything whoever you speak to, just ask them to give you the extension for the Alberta CFO, they may be able to forward you to them, but just ask for the extension so you have it ready in case you ever need it again.

Good Luck

Just an update from this week.
I called the CFC yesterday to get the number for the Alberta CFO (which I knew was closed Wednesday's) I was given an extention number and to call back Thursday or Friday during their hours of operation. Called back this morning and punched in the extension number I was given. Got talking to the woman and gave her all my information. She tells me that it is with the CFO for final processing....WTF??? So I politely ask her if this was not the CFO's extention and she tells me it is not. I ask her for the number and she tells me there is no use in calling as they are backed up currently and to keep checking back and beat a hasty retreat off the telephone. So I sit here still with no licence, no answers and no extention number. Does anyone have the telephone number or extention for the Alberta CFO?

Thanks, that number will get you to the CFC, do you happen to know the extention number for the CFO? I already have all that information

My first ever direct contact with my own Ontario CFO was an email directed to:
CFO.Ontario@ontario.ca
I got a reply that started some conversations with CFO Ontario.
Why don't you try a similar email?
Maybe
CFO.Alberta@alberta.ca ?

I can't, for the life of me remember where I found that ON email.
