Shorten PAL Approval Times

Restricted..

Just a question..

Once you get approved.. you can request to get a ST ATT before getting your card and any firearms?

I bought a Sig 226 before getting my license approved, just needed to wait for approval for the transfer to go through. I requested the ST ATT about 1 hour after license approval, they said there will be no problem with transport without the actual card in my hand as long as I have the number and expiry date (which they gave me over the phone) along with a proper ST ATT. They put a rush on the ST ATT for me as I will be in the area where the gun is over the weekend, it is approximately 200 kilometers away from where I live.
All in all, the process was not as bad as others make it out to be (and I live in Ontario). The people in the Ontario office were very polite, and after I explained my situation they rushed everything trough in one day

I was wondering i want to go to the local store and buy a rifle but my card is still in the mail I wonder if they will do it with just the card number and expiry. I guess they have to register it so the info they give the Goverment will have to match the info on file with the CFC.

Well license has been approved and is currently in transit but will not make it before the long weekend so i have said license just dont have said plastic card. They should be able to fax you a temp one like they do with tyour drivers license.

Yeh, I even sent the app in before my test :p....oh well no body to blame except for the RCMP not allocating enough staff to this department (that's right conservatives don't advocate for hiring more government workers-just use them more efficiently( aka allocate) haha .

Thanks Bsand, I definitely am out of luck. They almost didn't even check my name on the system until they got the very very polite side of me and felt bad :p haha. Oh well...as soon as they do I'll have my damn membership/references/etc... on the phone and I'll hopefully they can do it all then and there.

I'm assuming the local officer from the Peel Police (Mississauga area) aren't going to very quick either. :( I really am starting to wonder if federal workers are just 'chilling' until the elections considering they told me they had 5feet of mail to deal with......just wondering how their boss let it get that high without raising a stink to their staff or hiring/supervising committee. .....

lol, wow i was replying to the other guy... i guess my internet lagged the hell out i probably should of quoted who i was talking to... haha

Yes, for non-restricted, did that a year ago at WSS in Calgary, had number, no card.

They recieved my papers yesterday and i jsut called to make sure everything arrived fine and I was told it could take up to two weeks before they can tell me if they even recieved it

One of the two staff in Ontario who process the course/test forms was off sick for a couple of weeks so they are currently running 7+ weeks to get the paperwork back to students who did their course/tests in Ontario.

I'm running into 7th week now, already got the letter from RCMP requesting test results.
My license 28 day waiting period will run out this week, simply don't understand why
there is only two people handling this in Ontario and why it takes them 8 weeks to put a stamp on the exam.

Common for it to take 6-8 weeks, it keeps Ontario safer.

I understand people get sick. But that is no excuse. If I made people wait 7 weeks plus to look at a piece of paper that was already corrected at my own job I would be fired.

Excellent info!

:agree:Thank you, Calalta:wave: You did spend some time to put all this info together to the benefit of newbies:runaway:: MUCH APPRECIATED!:bigHug:

If I only knew all this before waiting like a stupid :bangHead: for seven (7) weeks for the guys in Orillia to put two simple stamps on my exam forms.

But, at least, I will follow from now on your steps to have my application pushed ahead at Miramichi.H:S:

Hey all. Got my approval for my R Pal this morning, it was 28 days to the day.

Thanks for all the pointers, seemed to work great.
