Haha, yes the saga is finally over, but what a place to inquire and vent, thank you all with your help and guidance on CGN!!

Side note:
Lynne Yelich and Stephen Harper of the Conservative party have my Vote on May 2nd!!

Congrast, I felt the same as you when I was approved. It's not over yet though. Let's see we've got club membership, cfo approval of your firearms purchase, LTATT, etc. Don't worry, it will all happen in the end, just be patient.

lol

the worst is waiting for the damn people to ship it..

i have received the letter from the CFO stating that the transfer has been processed and certificate is on its way, yet the dealer still hasn't shipped my pistol yet.. its been approved since 3 days ago!!
that being said i doubt i will ever buy anything from that dealer again...

they do everything from your transfers to your ATT's they also have final say in your PAL.

federal only does the licensing and the registry from what i understand. They also print all your certificates and pal card.

Saw my application was in progress today. The site says it was received on April 1st. I called and spoke to a nice lady today who confirmed for me that everything was good with my application, but could not pass me on to an interview because they had not scanned my photo yet. Wouldn't let me press her very far, but said I should try calling back next week to see if they could help me out.

I'm going to try on Wednesday or Thursday and see how it goes. I'm Albertan so I'm hoping I'll have it right away when my 28 days is up. Fingers crossed.

I am just relieved that my license is approved and on it's way soon and that I didn't have to wait for months.

Gun club membership: no problem, just wanted to wait for approval of RPAL before joining.
CFO approval of firearms purchase: hopefully just a technicality
LTATT: here's hoping its just a short wait, first time at the range is going to be exciting to say the least!!

by the way, and as a side note, I am putting a deposit on a Gen 4 Glock 17 from one of the sponsors of this forum.

The process they use is the CFC route and sometimes they refuse to transfer, which means you just call back and ask someone else. Good luck finding the CFO direct number.
Alberta's CFO number was 780-495-7799 but can't say if that is current.

i had the bc's one until the lady asked me where i got it from, and not to use it again..

but i got the extension 9530 ;)

your going to need all three, the membership before the LTATT and the LTATT before the transfer ;)

save your self some time and get the membership now, and fax in your LTATT

What? LTATT before I can have the pistol transferred to me? I know I will likely need the Gun Range membership and STATT before transfer.

No Intervention Required

Greetings All;

Just wanted to advise of my experience with the PAL process, in my case RPAL.
Sent my application in on 14 Mar, it was received on 17 Mar and posted to the website a few days later. I was interviewed on 5 April, both my references were interviewed prior to that, license was issued on 14 April. 30 days from when I licked the stamp on the application to having the license in hand , given there is in my case a 28 day waiting period I would say this is excellent service. :D

Keep in mind I never called the registry in NB at any time in this process, I did however spend some effort to ensure all my paperwork was complete and exactly as demanded on the application.

The down side was it did take 6 weeks, to get my test results back from the CFO here in Ontario, not performance IMHO.

JJ

Just got off the phone with the CFO, they said the Ontario office is about 2 weeks behind in approving licenses due to volume. All my checks have been completed and everything checks out at the RCMP side of things, just have to wait for the Ontario office to catch up

I'm on day 61 with these guys. Very slow. I've called and got the same thing, "everything seems good, we've processed your application, it just has to get reviewed and it's just a matter of time".

These guys are going to give me an aneurysm

Check out this thread. My understanding is that it's the BC CFO's policy to make you have the LTATT before a restricted transfer is approved. It's probably different in SK, iirc someone in that thread posted saying it's pretty much the same as AB and they just called up the CFC after the transfer and requested one.

the BC CFO did not approve my transfer until i had a LT-ATT and they didn't give me a LT-ATT until i faxed them proof of club membership.

So a 5 minute call to silvercore and 15$ later they emailed me proof of membership.

if you want to join it would be 30$, as i was a student of theres so it was only 15$. There website is www.silvercore.ca its available to all canadians and satisfies the club requirement.

yep, thats what there policy was. But they did my application over the phone when they called about the transfer. And the ATT they gave me wasn't a gimped one but one with all approved gunsmiths, ranges and border crossings, from 24/7 for 5 years

RR22, hang in there, that has to be a Huge drag to have to wait 2 months for your license to be approved.
