Just got off the phone with the Ontario office, my app was held up because of the background check. I had a charge in 1998. The nice lady cleared the hold and approved me over the phone. She also gave me my license number and expiry date on the spot. Just checked it online and this is what was posted:Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000). If you have any issues with your license taking to long, call them and tell them it is needed for employment.

Just curious about the interview portion of the R-pal application. The girlfriend sent in her application and it has been just over two weeks. She called them and was told all her info is good, and that they will be contacting her soon for an interview. Back in 2007 when I applied for my restricted I didn't have to go through any interview, so what's it all about?

They just ask you the same stuff as the forms that you filled out, it took all of 4 min. Not 100% sure why they bother but who knows right.

They will ask your references if you're a violent person...... likely to react violently to some situations.......if they've been forced or coerced to endorse you..... if you like watching violent movies.......if you'recently been fired or gone through a breakup.......if you're likely use the "weapon" to defend yourself or someone (This is a no no.)

Whooo-hoooo!
License in hand!

Recap:

- Sent registered from BC on Mar. 7
- Rec'd on Mar. 11
- Entered system on Mar. 24
- Interviews completed on Apr. 5
- "License has been issued" Apr. 8
- Apr. 18 - license in hand.

My experience: I didn't call or bug them, just made sure my application was complete and legible and that my references would be around and contactable. Sent application regular mail, it was there in 3 days.

They called me and both references within 2 weeks and licence was issued exactly 28 days after their site said it was received (RPAL).

So now that my license is issued and I have to wait till friday for mailling, Oh wait friday is a holdiay so do we think they will print on thursday and mail or am I SOL till next week then i have to wait another week? it could take longer to get it mailed to me then it took to have them process it.

Damn, this is ridiculous.....WHY WONT THEY SEND ME BACK MY RESULTS!!! Longest 7 weeks of my life.... :( I keep hearing all of you speak of the 28 days and I can't help but see my situation....march 21 showing received on RCMP's website. Haven't gotten my results back yet and then I have to deal with the local officer too (not applicable to the rest of course )......this is going to be at least a 4 month ordeal.....7 weeks after march 21 receive results then im guessing 45 days of more BS..... please if you have any more advice to get me through quickly (obviously other than the local officer, thats my problem :( )......help!

Yeh, I even sent the app in before my test :p....oh well no body to blame except for the RCMP not allocating enough staff to this department (that's right conservatives don't advocate for hiring more government workers-just use them more efficiently( aka allocate) haha .

Thanks Bsand, I definitely am out of luck. They almost didn't even check my name on the system until they got the very very polite side of me and felt bad :p haha. Oh well...as soon as they do I'll have my damn membership/references/etc... on the phone and I'll hopefully they can do it all then and there.

I'm assuming the local officer from the Peel Police (Mississauga area) aren't going to very quick either. :( I really am starting to wonder if federal workers are just 'chilling' until the elections considering they told me they had 5feet of mail to deal with......just wondering how their boss let it get that high without raising a stink to their staff or hiring/supervising committee. .....
