Shorten PAL Approval Times

Application processed and license issued! Yay! Now I have to wait for them to ship it to me...lol.

Appeared online September 14th, issued on October 19th. One week after 28-day waiting period completed.

So a question for you guys. A woman named Elana (probably spelled it wrong) at the cfc just told me that I couldn't call in to do the interview as a friend's refrence. Said they'd call when they were ready for it. Is that standard procedure?

Unless your friend has not already done his/her own interview then that is true. They also will not do any of that before they get your test results and do other "preliminary" work... which is of course again BS intended to make you wait longer. However once his/her interview is done etc the references can call in.. easiest to have your friend give you their file # and if possible get the extension # for the person they did their interview with.

Thanks, thats the problem.

It's my application, I'm calling in tonight. Had no idea they required my interview first.

I can't tell if that is sarcasm?

Cause if its not, I'm totally doing that.

Call NB and they will give you a reference number, give that number to your references on application. Get them to call 1-800-731-4000 ext 2533. Give the reference number to the person that answers and they ask a couple of questions and boom you’re done. Both application references in the same day under 5 minutes.

Sorry didnt mean to repeat last post. Doh

note that in Quebec, you cannot have your references call in before they are called. just went through this process.

which i should point out took less then a month an a half from the second i decied to get my RPAL to the time py license was delivered, including classes, exams, interviews, etc.

Personnally, i don't understand why people whine about delays all the time...in all my dealings with the government, those regarding firearms were by far the most efficient and timely.

I just got called today about my PAL, and had my two refernces call them with the reference number they gave me. I'm assuming they caleld me as today was day 28 or just about. So I looked online to check the process and it says done initial processing and is now in progress. What does that mean? Is that where they do all the criminal check stuff? How long does this stage take? Should I call back and ask if I need to give any info?

Edit: oh, they received it the 4th...so not quite 28 days :S ... but all those questions ^ still apply!

I've got a question: when the CFO approves the licence application in the last stage, does the status online changes immediately?

I wasnt really checking all that often but last wednesday Oct 13. I checked it and my status was :
Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

So i am guessing mine should be here wednesday - friday. Which is 35 - 37 days after they recieved it. But again i only did non-restricted.

Mine has been with that status since last week :(

Damn! But it's okay, if mine takes a couple. They received it like 15 days ago. So I still have 13 mandatory days to go. I just hope mine ends up taking 35 ish days. Thats fine. But I don't want it like End November begining december! Or to get turned down for some reason! We'll see whos gets in first then :p . What province are you in? Im ontario.

I think it's if you purposly didn't tell them something. Or are a criminal. That type stuff. On the phone they asked me if I had be diagnosed or something with depression, if I ever had been called police on for this and that. Ofcourse it's no to all that, but I guess if they find out someone lied they get turned down. I almost wanted to tell the Ladie...I just turned 18!!! No I've never been divorced lol. So unless they listen to me talk #### on xbox occasionaly I should be good! Im pretty squeeqy clean!

Hi all. I applied for my pal (and just the pal... will do rpal later) and had the 28 day waiting period end yesterday (Oct 18). Today (the 19th) the website says the license has been issued.

It seems like here in Saskatchewan things are going pretty fast. I also did not get any phone calls or interviews.

First of all excuse my english, I live in Quebec but I didn't find any place where the PAL application stuff was so well detailed.
The received my app a month ago, but I got a letter last monday saying that I gave them the wrong CC number..my mistake. I called them immediatly and 3 seconds later the "in progress" message was appeiring on the RCMP site. I called them in the afternoon to know what was the following of the process, they said that the app was sent to the Quebec CFO and THEY (QUEBEC CFO) will call me and my references if needed. Is it the normal procedure, because I'm reading on this forum that you and your references can call the CFC to make the interview. It's for the PAL, not the RPAl. Thanks.

My thanks to CALALTA for the greatest threads of all times! I followed your suggestions, and today I am one happy person! Here is my timeline:

Called and did interview: Oct 14

Status "Your application has been processed and license issued": Oct 21

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY
