Shorten PAL Approval Times

If they give you hassle about giving you your PAL number over the phone, tell them you need it for a range safety course you are taking this coming weekend so you can join your local club.

So there is more good advice for beating the system set up to make guns disappear.
You can also try calling back and talking to someone else; the answers and service provided can vary widely among the many different clerks.

Also note xm111's post that BC CFO gave out RPAL number over the phone.

Thanks also to 3strokes for kind words and good information posted on here.

I should probably update the original post but some people can't manage to read that to the end so I may not.

I think you guys will like the .22 GSG 1911.

Yet another semi-fiasco

In my mailbox today, the 18th, an envelope, addressed to me in my own handwriting and from CFO.
It contained only the CFSC stamped results.

I don't understand how two envelopes (from a whole bunch from Orillia on
the 15th) destined for Ottawa and the exact same address and Postal
Code could be separated to the point that I receive ONLY one of them
today

Exam dates (Ottawa, RA Centre: 02-03 october.)
My PAL application was online 24sep.
Still waiting for CFO stamp (which CFO advised me was mailed out on Friday the 12th).

Calendar
Today Thursday the 18th
Date my application shown as received online 24sep
Tests nr and r-pal passed 02-03oct

CFO tells me my papers (stamped results) mailed on Friday the 12th.

Date my CFSC test results received stamped from CFO ON: 18 Nov

Date my CRFSC test results received stamped from CFO ON: ?? ??? (sometime this week, 15 to 19 Nov?)

today - 24 sep (application received and online) = 55 days
today - 03 oct (exams passed) = 46 days

Ok I'm in ontario,,my 28 day waiting period is up,,all my paperwork was sent to NB and shown online as oct 28th. Now I only did a non restricted course,,should I still be waiting for a phone call for interveiws?????

If all your paperwork was OK

i.e., you also sent in your stamped exam results, then do call them and ask if there's anything wrong with your paperwork.

Too impatient?

An update. They recieved my application on October 22, and this morning it got approved. They told me that the system approves it automatically after 28 days. Mine was 29 days, not sure if they count stats or not. I called today and the BC CFO gave me my pal/rpal number over the phone. I hung up from them and called Silvercore gun club, gave them my pal number and other info and my $33 and got my gun club membership. They sent me back a letter saying I'm a member of the club and sent me a almost fully completed LTATT form that I basically just had to put my personal info into it, sign, and date. I then faxed that to the CFO and got my LTATT going should be here in a week about the same time as my guns!!!

Nice! Now be prepared for time to move slower....

Einstein's time relativity not a theory anymore

Nice! Now be prepared for time to move slower....

It has been proven that time does not move at the same speed
depending on where in Canada your CFO is..................

xman111 is in BC

I (and a few others) are in .......Bantararebibble

The CFC is only one phase in our quests for the holy grail (RPAL),
the rest is CFO.

I hear ya, I was extremely lucky, my start to finish was less than 2 months (PAL and RPAL exam - card in my hand)

and that was in onterrible too

Still waiting for the mail man here... I was unable to get my PAL # over the phone from even the CFO after it was issued and mailed they told me its no good to me because I have to show the card! What a joke so im not going to argue and just wait it out.

Father time (not)

What's bantararebibble. You must mean Ontario. My license is taking so long.

Holy s**t 3strokes. Do you work for canadapost? Is it stressfull?

Actually my "Ontario" nomination above is a variation of what another forumite (CGNer) called it..... Bantario (ban as in gun) and another called it.......... Onterrible)

No, I do not work at Canada Post. And at 67 I have learned to not get stressed.
However, I figure that given a normal life-span, I have maybe 10 to 15% of the rest of my life left to enjoy my regular pastimes plus my (re)new(ed) one of target shooting (pistols, not rifles) while the majority of the rest of CGNers can look forward to between 80+% and 50+% of the rest of their lives to enjoy their new PALs. I might be lucky IF, after getting it, I get to renew it more than once or twice.

My screen name "3 strokes" refers to three strokes I had. None fatal, thankfully. But mañana, who knows?

I can't find the smiley of the old man walking with a cane.
