Shorten PAL Approval Times

Let's not forget our real HERO. Calalta

Forget about the CNN Heroes. They're OK.

But we all owe a debt of gratitude to Calalta (OP) even those of us who are STILL waiting.

My 45th day and it still says
Application Received on: 2010/10/12
Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.

Mine still says the exact same thing. My application was received 2010/10/18 though so I'm still under 45 days.

Don't feel too bad. Mine has been 63 days.
My brother will hopefully call them today.

Just got my physical licence today, exactly one week after it went to 'issued' on their website. They received it on October 22 in Mirimichi, i received my licence in the mail, Nov 26.

3strokes I hope you get your licence soon, it has been a real ordeal.

Thanks, Calalta. Your wishes are appreciated (and needed.)
It's been 65 days.
I was hoping that my brother (the last interviewee-to-be) could call them on Friday from Egypt. He didn't. When I asked him how come, he said that his wife had cancelled the long-distance calling service from their home (the live-in maid was costing them a fortune in long-distance calls and they don't have a secret PIN-Code possibility.) Then he said he'd go to my mother's and phone them (the CFC) from there but when we got into the weekend and I asked why he hadn't "visited" our mother, he tells me that their driver totalled a car and the other car has to be shared among four of them (wife and two teen-age daughters.) He gave me a cell-phone number and I'll try to get CFC to call him there tomorrow.

I wonder what ELSE can go wrong !!!!!!!!!!

We're all expecting pictures of your first babies........

I took the advice from the good people from here and took the advice to call in the RCMP office to get my interview done then I got both of my references to do the same thing for me on the same day.

I did a follow up call the next day and they said all the information was sent to the CFO.

Hope to see the new license in a few weeks

Thanks guys,

Redlite

Hallelujah

66 days after my app was received in Miramichi

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued.
If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

I guess they send it to the CFO (Ontario) or do they mail it directly to me?

Hurray!
They will send it to you but I believe they only print on Fridays, so it may be a wait still.
Don't know if the Ont. CFO gives out PAL numbers, but some CFOs will do that. What am I saying, who believes the Notario CFO would do that.
Now that I think about it I don't know that Miramichi sends it directly to Ontario residents. Maybe they send them all to a Kapuskasing office with an outside pickup window.

I'll check.........

.......... with the Ontario CFO. By email (I think email is preferred since it is not as intrusive as a phone call and they can answer at their leisure. So far they've been very responsive. And now, that they think they had heard the last of me, here I reappear like a Jack-in-the-box.

I'll be sure to update the Daily Messenger/Tribune/News/................

I have my girlfriend (who is listed as conjugal partner on my application) phoned in to initiate an interview. My girlfriend was told she should not be contacting them, and she will only be contacted once they finished the paperwork on my application.

So my guess is you can only have your references phone in to initiate an interview, but not conjugal partner listed on your application?

follow up:

Phoned CFC and I was told that normally they do not need to do an interview with conjugal partner, therefore no point asking my girlfriend to phone in.

congrats 3strokes!

Thanks Shooter (Numero Uno)
I'll not pop the bottle of bubbly until I have a certain
piece of plastic in my hand and I ensure that ALL the
info is correct (or next thing you know, I might be
asking the CASS or NFA for assistance.............)

It won't be long now 3s. After mine changed status on line, I had it in the mail box like 7 days later. Then the shopping began...........

I will soon need a larger Signature Line!

Please look at section H of the application. A reference cannot be your current conjugal partner.
