Nice! :)

Mine was received and signed for today according to Canada Post.

I did the same thing just yesterday and after thorough ID verification I got my license number over the phone without any problem. I think you were just unlucky to speak to someone who couldn't care less.

I'm going to try again tomorrow, do you by any chance know the name/gender of the person you talked to?

Took exactly 4 weeks when RPAL/PAL app sent in for approval (23 days from when CFC stated they got app). Very impressed with CFC, very polite on the phone albeit monotone. I already have POL so no 28 days waiting period and NO FEE :) . Finally can pick up my XMas present from the gun shop.

Friend with new app sent 2 days before mine also got phone interview same day but is still waiting for 28 days wait period.

Dec 8, send in app for both PAL and RPAL
Dec 15, CFC site show received on Dec 13
Dec 20, call in, txf to interview but told they're too busy
Dec 28, call again at 11am, txf and told phone problem, given ext.# to call back next day
Dec 28, CFC call at 1pm, did interview. Call 1st ref, did interview. Left 2nd msg for other ref. who called back but office closed.
Jan 3, other ref. called in the morning, got interview done.
Jan 4, CFC site shows licenses issued.

Great thread!

Followed the steps and my online status said approved on the 28th day! Since the day it was approved, I've submitted (in BC) a LT ATT application, got a range membership, ordered a pistol, got the ST ATT approved for shop to home, but am still waiting for the actual PAL to arrive in the mail, so I can pickup the purchase ... sigh.

Guy at the shop apologized at how ridiculous the process is, acknowledging that yes, of course of I have a license otherwise the transfer never would have gone through, but he can't let me walk out of the store with my purchase until he sees the actual card.

Anyway, thanks all for the great thread!

Not bad at all. :) I will use this as my reference since I am doing an upgrade as well. Congrats!

Well after another phone call

Application Received on: 2010/11/12

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

At least she apologized for the time.

i called the cfc and was told it was with the cfo's office in orillia. i called them, found out that it was being held up because of a problem with a prior criminal offence (not firearms or violence etc related). they told me it had to be transferred to the firearms officer for the region i am in for them to look into. wasnt able to get in touch with that person today, will be trying again next week. i was told the offence SHOULDNT keep me from getting a pal (not applying for rpal) but its kind of a discretion things, so im keeping my fingers crossed.

Well it's finally here, exactly two weeks after being approved and mailed. Which was exactly 28 days after their receiving my application. I can now pick up the guns i paid for. w:h: :dancingbanana::cheers:G:

Here's another success story I have to share with you all, as it sounds almost too good to be true...
Last Thursday (Dec 06) I called BC CFO in Surrey with some questions about Long Term ATT and was told that I can apply for it right there and then while on the phone, now that my license has been issued.
It took literally no time at all, because they already had all the info on file.
All I needed to do is confirm my gun club membership. A phonecall to Silvercore and $15 later it was done. The girl at Silvercore faxed my membership letter to CFO on the spot and NEXT DAY (Friday, Dec. 07) when I got back home from work my LTATT was in my mailbox .
All correct too - it states that all restricted firearms registered to me can be transported from my home to all approved ranges, clubs, gunsmiths and border crossings and back. It expires in 5 years on my birthday and I didn't have to confirm any of this, it is apparently all automatic.
Life is stranger than fiction sometimes...

After waiting for more than 4 months finally I got mine Jan 5, 2011, remind you I had to sent back my RPAL/PAL since my last name was incorrect and it was 2 months ago. and its a good idea to give them a call after waiting period is over, ask them politely about your licence status. so you wont end up just like me...

Just got my cz 858 and hopefuly i gone be able to get my AR next week! but the problem is I wont be able to go to the range for another month or two, work is waiting for me hehehe....

What 'waiting period'? The 28 days, the 30 days or the 45 days?
Doesn't matter, if anyone follows your advice and the suggestions of the CFC to sit and wait, then they can expect unnecessary delays.

Depending on the day it is approved there may be a delay until it is printed and the mail system means it can take another week to arrive. In the meantime you can contact your provincial CFO and ask for your PAL number. Even the Ontario CFO gives out this information.
Just letting you guys know the Newfoundland CFO will not release this information to me. It's in the mail and I just called them and I got refused ("Security Reasons"). He said just wait for it in the mail.

Sent application November 30, received my PAL in the mail on January 10th.

Edit: Sorry, I meant RPAL... I'm in BC, if that matters. Basically it was getting processed right before Christmas
