nothing like usgi training- all you want to do is make the sleeve smaller- the rest SHOULD pull out with the tongue- now for those that don't have the nylon sleeve, do one of 2 things- either find a sleeve that is small enough to encase the brush and still fit in the oilskin sleeve, or 2) leave it out altogether- you may be able to find a piece of tygon tubing the right size, but i left mine out in my belt kit- the purpose of it is to stop the bristles from piercing the slleve, b/c then you can't get anthing out and ruin your bore brush at the same time

I don't think any longy's came in. This was a shorty thing. Doesn't hurt to ask though.

Of those who have received their "shortys", and have tried out their rear sight operation, can you report on the smoothness etc, or are we looking at USGI replacement as in the 2009 models ?

My rear sight works as nicely as the Beretta Garand sight on my other M14.

My rear sight's a bit stiff, but still easy enough to adjust...

Mine is sloppy and the barrel is indexed poorly. A few cosmetic finishing issues such as inclusions and tooling marks. Nothing that can't be attended to and reasonable value for the money. I'd do it again.
