Shorty M14 presale + .308 ammo deal

Cleaning Kit Tube

I'm really happy with my new toy. Thanks CanAmmo.

Outside of the fact that the safety is a beetch to activate, and the ammo clip is kinda hard to remove with it's release (really tight), the gun itself seems tight, well-built & solid.

One thing I'd strongly recommend, however, is the removal of the cleaning kit from the butt stock to be done this way:
First, those who haven't yet had the pleasure, here's what's inside one of the tubes, the one with the waxed yellow paper & the green canvas strap -

A previous poster suggested using fine needle-nosed pliers to pull out one of the cleaning tube sections, then to pull the whole remainder with the canvas strap. I recommend using an existing cleaning rod (who doesn't have another one lying around?), screwing it into the end of one of the tubes inside the butt stock, and hauling it out like that. Once you remove a couple with your old cleaning rod, the rest come out quite easily, and you don't screw up the interior thread of the M14 cleaning rod.

I only include the pic to show those of you who haven't yet removed these what lies inside.

Thanks, that sounds like a good idea.

O ya, and order 563 has now been shipped. Giggety.

i have no idea as to WHICH END of the rod sections are exposed- you're fine IF THE THREADED end is exposed, but if you have the COLLAR exposed, YOU NEED EITHER ANOTHER SECTION, AN 8/32 ( it SHOULD BE 8/32- THAT'S WHAT THE USGIS ARE- BUT WHO KNOWS WITH CHINESE?)SCREW, OR A SET OF NEEDLE NOSE-=BESIDES, MINE IS THE USGI WAY- if you're pulling hard enough on the pliers to damage those threads, you're NOT doing it properly- needle nose pliers are FINE ( precision ) instruments and you can't exert much force with them anyway
the safety will loosen with use; just DON'T put it on with the rifle UNCOCKED
there are also different threadings for cleaning rods- ie outers, stag, kleenbore, and dewey- try fitting different sections of different rods to make a longer one- the dewey uses an adaptor to make 8/32, hoppes and kleenbore are 8/32.but outers is an 8/36- at least in bore brushes-

Called the depot directly and he said it will be no problem picking it up tonight. :D

Does anyone know Canada ammo's CanPar shipper #? I got a shipping email on the 19th (rifle 539), but haven't been able to track using the tracking number on the CanPar website. I called CanPar today and they said they couldn't find the shipment in the system and asked for CA's shipper #.

CA got back to me already! They're able to track it, and it should be here tomorrow. Just a wonky tracking system, I guess.
