Showoff your SHORTY 12G SHOTTY (14" or under and Mods)!

Have you noticed much difference in the reach to the trigger? With the factory plastic Mossberg stocks it will strain my hand after a few hours of shooting. F**k that makes me sound like a pussy! Pistol grip stocks fix that issue but make the slide release and tang safety more difficult. They're great on Mavericks but not what I want. The SGA for the 870 was a full win for me, I couldn't find one fault with it. I think I'll try the Mossberg SGA and see how it goes. I'm still thrilled to have the shotgun I've dreamed of for years!
You know, initially with my 20" 590, I was getting strain in my right pinky and ring finger metacarpal area. But it wasn't from the trigger. It was from the slide release. (my first Mossberg) I've since changed my technique and its a non issue now.
I love my 870 SGA too, I would not say the difference in grip feel is for the worse at all. Just slightly different.

I've definitely come to prefer the SGA grip in general though.
I feel it to be a perfect hybrid of a traditional stock grip and a modern pistol grip. As a result, three of my five shotguns currently sport them, and I don't see that changing.

LOP is waaaay too long for a short barrel. Had my wood stock on it (1" shorter) and it's still too long, in my opinion. Hogue 12" on the way.

are you going for a shorter stock because it does not fit you or because you think it does not look right? i had a short stock on a shotgun at one time because it came with it but it was too short to shoot properly. i am just a little guy but have long arms and a short stock does not work for me . i also have a speedfeed stock on a 14 inch barreled mossberg and i like the stock contrary to other opinion.i do not use the shell holder feature as the gun has lots of capacity .anyone else notice that the 14 inch mossbergs hold one more shell than a similar 870 . i have both and the 870 has a one round extension to get similar capacity .

Mostly doesn't look right but my arms aren't that long. I can get by shooting with the long stock but the shorter LOP would look better and be ideal for me. Maybe the 12" LOP will be too short on the Hogue, won't know until I get it and try it. One thing about the strapped forend is that you have to hold it in the middle, I think I choke up a little bit on my full sized 500. Will have to pay more attention next time I shoot it.

I shot 00 Buck with a PGO tonight and it was fun. I think I'm going to try some slugs in my Road Blocker. That brake seems to do wonders.

Wood stock is around 13.25" LOP and the OEM polymer is around 14.25".

Yes, the comparative 870s mag tube in factory form does not extend to the same length of its barrel. The 12" model does though. The 14" 870 needs a +1 to bring the mag tube flush and up to 5+1.

Geez Donut. Those are some stellar guns you've got there.

I like the matching pair, and then the upsized versions.

What tri-rail is that on your "C7" build?

There were some rumblings about CC releasing the “D” marked TRIAD rail for sale to the public, but that hasn’t come to light yet, so I ran an airsoft copy which looked pretty damn convincing. The one in the pic is BCM ($99 USD so I caved). Now if I can only find an Elcan C79 for the SA20 :)

I can’t tell you how much fun short barrelled shotguns are, especially at the indoor range with 3in magnum slugs. There’s not a lot else that will scare the $hit out some birthday boy who’s renting out the .500 S&W for $18 a round, haha! My 12.5 is great for those kinds of $hits and giggles, but it’s even more fun with those 8.5 shotties :)

Sounds muzzle-flash-tastic ;)

I've let loose a few 3 inch mag slugs out in the woods with mine, everyone else wussed out from shooting it after that :d

Those Magpul forends look badass with the short barrels. I like the idea of adjustable LOP with the Magpul stock but it just looks weird to me. It will grow on me in time I'm sure.

It's taken awhile for the Magpul stock to grow on me. But I will admit it was for esthetic reasons.

I thought they were a hideous abortion when they came out. Figured it was just a acid trip rendition of a conventional stock. So I bought one and realized Magpul really put a lot of insightful work into it. It was designed by shooters not marketing dicks. Function attracts me and I think it looks awesome now. Best shotgun stock I've ever used.

My first thought on seeing the SGA was that it wasn't designed for looks but more for function. It's functionality makes it look good in the end.
