No, I did not have to. I used a Gen 2 UTG dovetail to Picatinny adapter. It uses four (4) high strength bolts and a recoil pin like you would find on CZ or Tikka dovetail rings. The receiver has three (3) pre-drilled recoil pin holes, so it was easy. The mount itself is aircraft grade aluminum. It's rock solid, but I used blue Loctite just in case. I plan to mount a Vortex Viper red dot, or something similar which is low in profile and lighter in weight.
All in, as pictured, she weighs just over 6 pounds.

Benelli Supernova Tactical 14, had no idea it existed until I saw it at a small family store, and impulse bought it. Closest thing to an M4 I can have under 1000 bucks without going Turkish, right? Need to find a 24" barrel and a flashlight mount for this baby.
Finally received the long-awaited Kyn-Shot Recoil-Reducing Stock-Tube from Brownell's this past week. What a difference at the range!! It is like night and day - .12 ga slugs feel like .410 Bird-shot!!!
