Sig522

I measured this image in AutoCAD, using the Pic-rail spacing as a reference (10mm) the measurements are:

Length stock extended: 846mm (as seen in photo below)
Length stock collapsed: 800mm (Note the first picture in this post shows the stock collapsed)
Length with stock folded: 600mm (end of pistolgrip to front of muzzlecap)

My vote goes to ditch the folder keep a collapsable and have a 18" barrel

And yeah I'd buy one in a heartbeat IF it were Non-res, I don't want another restricted black gun...

If TSE is bringing them it, at least it will get classified properly. If it's some other asshat organisation, who knows....like prohib with the MP5 .22lr.
If the OAL is 30", then we are f**ked, cause there is no way the folding stock only takes off 4".

How is it Blue Line activities fault the GSG5 was prohib?

They are actively fighting the mis-classification in court, so I wouldn't call them an asshat organization.

They ####ed up, I have no idea how, but they completely ####ed up.
TSE got the PE90's approved, Wolverine got the Scorpions approved, but these clowns couldn't get a .22lr approved.
For this kind of ####, someone that knows what they are doing should have presented the rifle to the RCMP, not rushed it through because they wanted to be the exclusive distributor.
Blue Line blew it, they are retards.

"The GSG-5 was advertised and promoted by the manufacturer (right at the SHOT Show when it was unveiled) as being an MP-5 variant. They called it an MP5 in .22 caliber. That's how they marketed it so there was no real choice other than to classify it as a variant here... they did it to themselves.

If you're going to quote statements then quote the entire statement I made... wherein I said that appearance is similar and on that basis they may well still classify the 522 as a variant.

Discussing this is stupid and I now regret even responding. The more people comment on here the more ammunition that is being given to CFC to perhaps decide in an unfavorable way. This is best left alone until they reach a decision.

Well typical Gun Maufacturer, see below response from SIG I received last night regarding SIG 522 availability date.

Dear Sir,
There is no set release date for the 522 but we expect to have it out in fall 2009.
We have already accumulated a large backlog list to fill, the best way to go about receive one
would be to have a sig dealer place an order for you so that you are on the list to receive one.

Regards,
Natasha

To me that means feel lucky if we get it out to market before mid-2010.

Also the MSRP already went up from $515 to $543.

My questions is why do all gun manufacturers teases on weapons coming out one to two years prior? Response: To build up the momentum so people run out to pre-order.

It's out.
I stole this from a US site:

I didn't even know these were being offered. Called up my local dealer this morning looking for a 522LR and he said he had a pair 556/522 special edition SWAT models with matching serial numbers. I went and checked them out and came home with the 522. The 556 is some special carbine with a standard barrel and a shortened quad rail. I didn't care for it at all. I might have sprung for it if it was a full railed classic but since I already have a standard SWAT, I passed. This 522 is number 120. :D

It is one sweet rifle in terms of fit and finish and if it performs like the reports I have been reading about the 522's that are out there, I'll be happy. It came with 1 - 25 rd mag that is made by Black Dog but is marked Sig. Just for clarification, according to BD's website their standard AR-15 conversion mag will fit the 522 so I ordered 5 more mags. Good on Sig for using a readily available, and great functioning, magazine.

The upper is all metal (including the quad rail) and the lower is a poly that seems very similar to what Magpul uses for their magazines. Seems very tough. The trigger is metal. One thing that I noticed right away is that there is NO play at all between the upper and lower recievers when assembled.

It does not come with sights but I had some Magpul MBUS that I'm going to try out on it. It has the same dovetail in the gas block to hold either a stock Sig sight or one like the Samson. I also have an inexpensive red dot that I'm going to try out as well.

It field strips rediculously easy but that was as far as I got. The quad rail looks almost identical to the one on my 556 but won't know for sure until I have time to take it down a little further. I am also going to have to wait until at least the weekend before I can get any rounds through it. Until then, here are some pics. I'll be happy to answer any questions as best as I can.
