This setup makes the SKS even more fun. It was a bit of a challenge since the scope is 26.5mm (1.1") vs the VOMZ that corwins brought in 25.4mm (1".)

Solution, I bought Weaver 30mm rings, high because it went best for me. Had to order 26mm inserts from Brownells, hard to find but Google saved me and directed me to this however you can order 26.5 rings from Russia via the the USA but won't ship to Canada.
Mag is a 10 Rd Promag and Magwedge Gen 2, of course.

setup a tactical (lol) sks a few months ago for a friend.
We went through 3 dif rails until we settled on one of these

SKS Rail Scope Mount - WARTAK SKAR SD-R

It may have been a MagWedge

Either way its been great on his sks.

the other two mounts felt weak and one was getting loose from time to time even with a dab of loctite.

IMHO i have no idea why anyone would go with any other rail system for a Scope. The stability and quality is what i would expect the original designers to use had they made a sniper version of this gun.

The only reason i could see for using the behind reciever small rail is for say a reddot so you could still use stripper clips.

Yep just finished installing the wartak in had in a box for a couple of weeks now.

Put my leupold 2-7x33mm on it. Gonna sight it all in tomorrow.

Mine is bolted directly into the receiver, this way it holds zero.
Open sight works too, underneath the scope, you can see it through.
Stripper clips work too, the scope is just far enough from the clip opening.

Got this at Westrifle.ca

Have those of you with the wartak rail had any issues with holding zero? I am looking at the Eastwave POSP 6x42d, but I have a nice Tula stamped one, with all matching numbers and would hate to drill and tap.

We have been using the Trueshot scope mounts, with built in peep sight. They are low profile, give you a great sight with extended sight radius & you can still use stripper clips. They always return to zero after cleaning.

Has anyone tried this scout mount from Scout Industries? I was leaning towards the BC Tactical version but this one can also be used as a rear sight if you take the optic off.

does the magwedge have a built in shell deflector like the wartak?
it doesnt come with the bottom bipod/grip piece either like the wartak?

The Magwedge has a built in shell defelector "like the Wartak" because the Wartak has a built in shell deflector like the rail it followed, namely the Magwedge.

Only cruel people say the word "copied" apparently, LOL ....

The Magwedge is a single piece of machined metal, not two pieces screwed together. The Magwedge scope rail has a groove down the center which acts as a rough BUIS. It is also set lower to the bore which allows for a more natural shooting position.

As to the accessory rail, I fail to see the benefit in screwing stuff to my stock. Instead we offer a free quick release pin (KwikPin) with our rail which is something you will be extremely grateful for on a regular basis.

You would be amazed how many KwikPin orders I get given the fact I include one with every rail sold on my website .... I guess the guys who bought "the other rail" know a better idea when they see it, LOL.

Do you guys with Wartak rails miss the ability to feed with stripper clips?

you can modify the opening of any clip to except stripper clips.. so you can still load 20 stripper clips the night before , but instead of feeding the box clip on the rifle you feed the clips you will be using .. just sayin
