SKS: Optics, sights & mounts.... update feb 16, 2010

By the looks of the insert it has the U channel the length of the rail like the gen2 does, which works as a built it rear sight. Works well on my other sks, makes a rear peep aperture under the rearward ring sighing the U channel. This will hopefully be the same by the looks of it.

Yes, its the same U channel as the gen1 and 2 ... still working on some other ideas.

I am not totally convinced of the necessity of a peep with this arrangement but if there is a reasonable way to do it we will figure it out.

I am trying to remove the rear leaf sight on a VZ58 to replace with a rear peep sight that I bought from Hical. I wasn't able to find a video on removing one on VZ specifically. Saw a video on how to do it on an AK though. Can someone help point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

So I installed the new kwikrail-T on my 53 laminate sks, it's pretty nice having a full rail and have striper clip use. I mounted a trs-25 that was on my one 12g, I may put some sort of optic on it if I can find a short enough scope with a bit of zoom.

I had to open up the rear of the opening of the rail, the stripper clip didn't have enough clearance to fit in the bolt carrier. Nothing a file couldn't cure, I took out the rear insert grove and opened up the side a bit. This is not a big deal for me as I will not be using the insert to have a full rail, I wanted stripper use as my other sks has a full rail with a scope. So I had no qualms about filing the new rail to fit, I chalk it up to the differences in sks production over the years and arsenals. Here's some pics, can't wait to sight it in. For ####s and giggles I put a light on the side accessory rail, pretty fun but I think I'll leave it off.

Here's a close up of my file job, will paint it black when I get a moment.

Yeah, I'm excited at being able to have a compact optic plus stripper clips. Now that it's on I can figure out how much room I have for a compact scope with a bit of magnification, very pleased with it so far. The kwik pin is great by the way, tight but not too hard to slid through. I need one for my other sks, do you sell just the pin?

Hi all,

i'm looking for an inexpensive (decent) SKS tactic scope and mount. theres some cheap stuff out there and I know you get what you pay for ;) however, there must be something that won't break the bank, i'm just a target shooter, no more than 150 yards really... ive seen some ncstar stuff pretty cheap but... any help you guys can provide is very appreciated!

Our full length rail is the first of its kind and still a great mount.

Available on our website or carried by our many dealers across Canada.

Hi!

I'd be very interested in hearing how the tech sights worked with your SKS. I'm about to pick one up and was considering installing them as they seem to be a good idea. Did you find it was a great improvement on the leaf sight?

Cheers,
