So what have you modded on your SKS?

Nice configs guys, I really like the laminate stock as well, but I also like the the Tapco stock, forward push mag release, mags, and left hand cocking knob as well.

I have modded exactly nothing on my SKS and it is going to stay that way. The SKS was designed to be a cheap, easy to use, easy to maintain and reliable rifle. It meets all of those requirements as it is. Adding $700 worth of tacticool crap to a $200 rifle is pointless.

What about adding 150 dollars worth of crap to a 200 dollar rifle to make it more comfortable for different people ?

Tapco stock off CGN EE picked up locally. Took a grinder to the bolt to drop mags on closed bolt. Extended mag release from hical. Handful of tapco 5/20 mags. Couple of crates of corrosive and some G96.

Steel plates at 100 yards and a tank of gas...

The one sks I have that's in a tapco stock, came to me in a tapco stock and costed less then an sks in an original stock. But also came without a bayonet. Make of that what you will.. I'll enjoy it for what it is. It gets shot a lot and worried about very little.

I modded one with a sling.....

Have nothing against people who mod them but I like them the way they are. It's an sks what else you need? What else is it supposed to do? At the end of the day it's still an sks. To me it's like people who pimp up the 10/22, nothing wrong with that but I'll keep mine simple just cause it's a 10/22 does the semi auto .22 stuff great but still at the end of the day it's still a 10/22.

To all you SKS owners you have a proven solid performer here that can always be made back into it's stock form.

Well you at least are good at math not like some here.....

If I wanted to dump 1000.00 plus on a new version of an SKS I would do that, but I do not want a T81 wannabe AK.

If the 81 had Galil sights instead of ramp sight with a 12" sight radius, and better than minute of man accuracy, available spare parts, spare mags, and accessories maybe, but to me after having a real AK 84s that shared the same sidefolder as the 81, I just cannot do it.

I see someone said putting 700.00 into a SKS, so how much will people be pouring into T81's so they can at very least have a picatinny rail.

So to you that want to slam people that are modding SKSs, why don't you start your own thread and tell just how well your guns shoot and how great the true value really is..... To me the Type 81 is a 700.00 rifle at best nowhere near 1000.00, and I mean my AR just detroys a T81 on every level.

Other than looking like an AK and being NR, I cannot think that people are not paying for value here just having a NR AK looking rifle.

So if I have a little over 500.00 into my SKS and it works for me who cares?

To all you SKS owners you have a proven solid performer here that can always be made back into it's stock form, unlike some new rifles with no support.

Ur AR don't "destroy" Jack Sh!t outside a range tho :p

If the type 81 isn't any better than the SKS, why did China design, manufacture and adopt the type 81 and not just reproduce and impliment the SKS???

By modifying an SKS to have t81/ VZ qualitys, ur simply destroying a historic rifle, and leaving another rifle homeless.

I am embarrassed to say, some times I mod my sks by not putting the cleaning kit in the butt stock where it belongs! Seems to shoot the same though, so I guess it's ok!

i put a sevensixtwo systems magazine release on mine and a drop in replacemnt peep sight for the rear blade one.... both non permanent, both are "low profile" and both add immense function to the rifle.
I may get struck by lightning for this, but I was thinking of getting one of those peep sights, I do like peep sights!
