So what have you modded on your SKS?

Would like to hear from other SKS owners and their mods...

...Anyways would love to see other SKSs and your ideas, thanks.

Touché, you are absolutely correct, that's why the Q400 is so fast,,, with a tailwind,,, in the descent,,, with no pax!

Dude, you jerkin' my chain. Had an autopilot coupled ILS snag one day, so I sat jumpseat as we left Pearson (YYZ) to go shoot a few approaches at Trenton (YTR) to see wazzup.
CRJ departed ahead of us, and we were 5,000 ft above it and past it before we got to Downsview (YZD).
Only proof that pigs could fly is the Shorts 330. Gawd, what a tail waggin' puke barrel that was...

Back on topic, my Bubba is in an Archangel stock with Hical mag adapter, TS200 rear peep, Witt muzzle brake, and Harris bipod.
...and a range bag stuffed full of chicom loaded CPD pistol mags.

My buddy gave me a PK-A (Russian version of a red dot for AK-47 etc).
I thought it was pretty cool so I bought a Russian quick-release plate from Amazon for ten bucks, drilled and tapped the receiver of the SKS and mounted the plate.
Had to modify the stock a bit to accommodate the plate.
It works great. Lots of fun.

Looks good, been thinking of putting a rail on my sks but want to keep the original mag, apart from not being able to use stripper clips how do you find it to reload? Just wondering as I had a full rail on an internal magazine bolt action but have since taken it off as it was always scratching up my thumb when I was trying to reload.

That looked fun.

Hey, anyone use stripper clips with detachable mags? Just wondering as I would think the lips would be similar on both the fixed and detachable magazines?

"What have I modded on my SKS ???

DAMN NEAR EVERYTHING :D a bunch of it is perminant too

I dont need excuses to appease all the Purist on these forums. As far as im concerned the SKS in its STOCK FORM is a 1950's shooter that performs like a 1950's shooter and has the ergonomics of a spruce 2x4.

The sights suck, the trigger sucks, the internal mag and stripper clips suck, the LOP sucks and the stock design sucks.

HOWEVER, with a bunch of elbow grease and some aftermarket accessory's, I believe the SKS can be turned into an exceptional shooter for the money in regards to what else is on the market.

Below is Sasha

My First firearm. Shes been with me through it all. Ive been constantly tweaking her for YEARS.

Shes bagged numerous coyotes, porcupines, a black bear, gophers and a few unlucky rabbits. Shes competed in a 3 gun competition and not finished last. Shes taken 2nd place overall during the 2017 Cabin Fever Riflechair Challenge, even placing above some AR 15s lol

I own a VZ 58, and a type 81, and to this day, if given the choice, id still keep Sasha over the both of them. :)

Yea the rj ( especially the old ones) , climb like a lead fart, and the Q climbs like a homesick angel when empty!
How do you like the ts200 peep, gotta get me some kind of peep for my shooter sks!

TS200 is bloody awesome for my old eyes! I can use my distance glasses to focus on the target, while the reduced f-stop of the rear peep brings the front post into focus.
Peeps that replace the rear leaf sight don't do that for you.

Added ts 200 tech sight; much better sight picture, and very worth it.
Took off bayonet because of the rattle, I use my SKS for deer hunting.
I added a 2 inch UTG butt pad to bring the stock to a correct length of pull for me.
I intend on getting a nicer sling, the surplus one isn't great.
I don't need anything else for the rifle, its a great shooter
