SR22 Rifle Questions

Interesting build and info Lead Monkey. It is scary how much some of us spend on our hobbies, isn't it? Your wife doesn't have access to this forum does she? To be honest the NEA chassis is not really my "cup of tea" but I can certainly appreciate the quality components, research and creativity that went into the build. Now for the important part....how does it shoot?

As is the case with both builds, haven't fired a shot yet, but I will hopefully get to sight this one in on my trip to the range this weekend...

I absolutely love the NEA, but the SR-22 I built is outstanding as well... in the end it was hard to choose so I built both!

LOL btw I'm still single in my early 30's with a very well paying corporate job, and I knew the costs going into it... I'm just trying to build my collection before I get tied down ya know!

Just FYI for those that do not know, Flat Dark Earth is MUCH MUCH darker than appears in photos (due to the available light reflecting off of it) but the handguard and Magpul Parts are closer in color match than they appear, the handguard just doesn't reflect as much light for the photos.

Goddamn, I shoulda charged you more for that handguard! :)

You've got a great looking, unique, rifle there. Scary how it adds up, you are a braver man than me for doing the math!

Thank You Kindly and Thanks for the honest deal! Still waiting on the manager of one of our CGN sponsoring dealers to get back to me on the $80 4 inch handguard I ordered 8 weeks ago... The SR-22 tally is going to be close in price to the NEA, with the optic that is...

Nice looking gun for sure, but more money than I'd care to spend on a 22. Hope it works as good as it looks for you.

Thank You... I hope so too! In the end it's a Ruger 10/22 inside so... nuff said. The lighter trigger kit, extractor and Dlask Sporter Crown barrel will go a long way to ensure accuracy and enjoyment.

All I can say is "WOW"

Great build!

Wow, nicest AR style tactical .22 I have ever seen. Well done!

All I can say is "WOW"

Great build!

Thanks guys, I know it's not for everyone, but I sure like it!

These builds are about learning from one another, creativity, and basically collecting parts and bolting them all together like when we were kids and played with blocks, with mods along the way to make everything work.

That's really what is so appealing... I mean I can buy another AR-xx and be glued to the range, or I can build one of these for the same money and plink all day in the bush or pits for $30 in ammo, no mag limit, no ATT, no trigger locks, don't even need a gun case... all I can say is too bad we have the restricted class and mag limits in this free country of ours.

My thoughts, as well. With that said, thanks for sharing pics and details, LM.

Interested in hearing how the BattleDyne's work for ya.

Excited to see SR-22 build..........

When you put it like that, it does make sense, rather than shooting a restricted with more expensive ammo.

My NEA chassis did not come with screws for attaching to the scope base holes in the Ruger 10/22 receiver. The screws would need to be longer than that of a typical scope base, likely 3/8 long or maybe a 1/2 inch (I could always cut them down with my dremel), socket head cap screws (hex key), but I don't know the correct thread pitch of the Ruger 10/22 scope holes in the receiver... it's probably either 6/40 or 6/48... does anyone know what the right size is and also where I might get said screws from?

Help Please f:P:2:

Edit: It's definately 6/48... might have to get the slight oversized cause I may have buggered one hole already...

Saves Your "Tail Feathers" If A Hole Gets Stripped

Slightly larger in diameter than the common 6-48 scope base mounting screw. Most holes "ruined" while drilling or tapping can be fixed; just retap to .146"-48 and install. No need to redrill base or gun.
