You should go for it!

I was thinking about cerakoting them. I was building a couple of those blemished FDE stag sets and wasn’t impressed. The tolerances were off, had to hammer out the take down and pivot pins.

I figured out what the issue was, the take down pin is way too big. I grabbed one from another set and it slid it no problem into the FDE Stag.

I was going to say, I can't see the "blemished" receiver going past quality control that badly from stag. My paint job will be a rattle can one. I like that better and I love the look of the rifle after it has worn down after a few years. As for resale value I usually don't plan on selling a firearm once I have bought it.

Just found out my replacement BSF barrel’s muzzle is probably threaded wrong. I tried a thread protector and it wouldn’t fit. Then I pulled the VG6 brake off of that Ballistic Advantage barrel and it wouldn’t fit. That was the barrel that replaced the old one that the fluting was machined too thin. This is incredibly frustrating.

I'm going to order a 22 Creedmoor barrel. What do you think of this setup?

22 Creedmoor

24" 1:7 5R
1.150, 980, 875 GB, 850
+2" rifle length
Cryo
Diamond fluting
Threaded muzzle

What I would like to see is a stainless barrel that has been hand lapped/some how get the throat cleaned up then Nitrided and lapped again to polish it up. I think that would represent the ultimate in durable accuracy/and resistance to copper fowling. We are really handicapped with oal of these mags especialy when the throats start burning up.

Mine is coming along slowly but nicely...started its life as a basic GI model and I am trying to add the most practical and needed upgrades first...like sights and a sling :p

So far I have...

- Troy HK style sights in tan/FDE...hoping to either paint them black or sell them and re-buy the same sights in black
- Troy enlarged trigger guard
- Troy mlok to pictanny rails for future bipod and light mounting at the 3 and 6 o'clock position
- Blue Force Gear Vickers padded sling with metal hardware in multicam black with orange adjustment pull tad
- mlok to QD front sling mount
- Magpul MIAD grip w/ filled mini oil bottle inside
- Railscales Anchor forend grip...by far my favorite upgrade to the gun, I recommend to anyone to check them out!!!

I have an optic and mount on order and should have them here in a few weeks, a Burn Proof Gear "Rail-Rap" in multicam black as well as some 5/20 rounder Lancer mags coming from ###### Armory...probably 2 months away tho

Hoping to also add a Magpul UBR gen 2, Surefire muzzle brake and a Surefire 600DF by the start of the summer.

***electric tape on stock/buffer tube is to stop my beard/mustache hairs from being pulled out!!!***

I wouldn't bother with fluting on a barrel that will last something like 1200 rds... would make a mean predator setup tough!

We use mostly Magpul MS4.

I'm used to carrying a traditional rifle in the bush so I guess I am also used to having a leather sling attached end of buttock to sling loop on the very front of the rifle.
Yea that's what I am using too, I guess I should be more detailed in my post. What do you have the sling set up with the rifle for Bush carry? IE. where are the sling ends attached to the rifle and how far apart are those attachment points?

I ordered a 45 Raptor barrel. Now to play the waiting game.

I get the point of a 45 raptor in US states that don't allow hunting with 30 cal bullets, but in Canada ...isn't the 45 raptor kind of a downgrade ballistically from the standard 308?

Not trolling, just wondering why you would select this cartridge, as reloading the ammo will be costly i suspect.

Here's what I use for hunting and training.
Rear attached to the exterior side (away from body) of stock. Front to the interior side of handguard. Farther apart for more stability.

Sling over one shoulder and under the other so it's diagonal in your back. This allow carrying the rifle always with the optic on top, almost low ready with one or no hand involved.

Buttstock end over the shoulder makes a vertical carry in the front. Suited for road/trail walk or standing.

Buttstock end under the shoulder makes a more horizontal front or side carry. Cause less fatigue for me. Better suited in the bush. Allows to quickly rotate it to a vertical back carry for ladders and such.

I have an Mlok QD sling attachment on the handguard.

I just wanted something different, it will probably be for hunting moose in the bush. I have a 375 Raptor barrel coming too.
