Standing Offhand Challenge 100yd/100M 4rd groups Center Fire

JEC, I think most of what you have here pretty much defines the intent.
I could be mistaken, but I kind of thought it was also meant to be fired
with all rounds loaded in the rifle magazine. But maybe single shooters are ok.
Hell, maybe its ok to load one at a time.

So, are "the rules" for this challenge:
* centerfire rifle chambered to a caliber legal to hunt big game
* no rifle / optics /bullet restrictions
* Offhand standing postion only (may use sling support)
* target must include four target points (aiming circles) on a single sheet of paper
* To post must, shoot four shots at each target circle.

EDIT: "inside target circle"

Emerson -- is this what you had in mind...with no rifle restrictions it would permit single shots (that might be important to shooters with TC's?
EDIT: Also, I would recommend that a maximum 8" circle diameter be established for the target size as that would be in the "clean kill" zone for big game.

Must confess I'm a bit surprised there are not more "takers" in this CHALLENGE thread. It seems there may be some among those who cast aspersions towards bench/bipod shooters, a reluctance to run in the brier patch in which they have asked to be thrown. Regardless of shooting style, there are always some ready to claim they shoot "tackdrivers" and are ready to post the "wallet" group they shot the day all the stars and planets were perfectly aligned. The idea of requiring multiple groups on the same paper in the other accuracy challenges, certainly slowed the "sniper" bravado because no shooter had a wallet group that met the criteria..hence the requirement to go out and actually do the shooting. So, who will be the first in this thread to post their offhand accomplishments showing multiple groups on a single target panel?

Maybe reading previous post will help you understand, how some members got put down to the floor, by showing with all their honesty, their rig and capability, getting caught once is very human, getting caught twice, is just plain stupid... PS: Some great success are more enjoyable in a silent atmosphery... JP.

Well im up for the challenge, But ill have to wait until payday to pick up some .270 ammo.... Will have pics / video up next weekend...

My Ruger American gave me 1/2 group on the bench once... But the average is 1- 1.5 inch with factory ammo...

Im a bit worried offhand... When I hunt i will lean up against a tree... So I will use a sling since its allowed....

4 shots at one target from a standing position. To quote my
father's advice to me "Emerson, don't over think this." It's
meant to test shooter's ability, not equipment. What I really
want see is a sub 2MOA 4 rnd group shot from the standing
position.

Don't worry, when you hunt you only need to hit it once (usually) anyway.

Well iVe done a just under 2 inch groups offhand with my SKS ! but at 50 yards ;) with Tech sights

There's still 2 feet of snow in the bush. Why do these challenges come up in the dead of winter? Wait till spring, & when the snow leaves I'll go out and do some shooting, if this and the other "prove it" thread are still around.

This!! Particularly for the 300 yard challenge. I would need my snowmobile to get to where those target frames are supposed to be!!
Regards, Eagleye.

I could not drive my snowmobile out to the 300 yard target and back without getting stuck. Not kidding!!

I hope both the threads are around this spring as I will give them both a shot. G

Well I made it up to the Redmist Ranch today and took some time to hit the range. Pretty good day for it, a little windy but the 100 meter range is on the low side of a hill by the creek and nicely sheltered. Shooting beats working on the honey do list anyway:)

Here's the Redmist 100 meter range in the summer. Small bore silhouette swingers chickens 40m, pigs 60m, turkeys 77m, rams 100m. backboard and 8"x 10" x 1" swinger for center fire. I have increased the height and width of the 100 meter berm since this pic was taken.

Here's the range today 2.5 feet of snow but sunny

I ask for the appropriate signs every election, they get well used !:sniper:

Here's the firing line. It has 3'x4' side panels I open in the summer to allow a cool breeze

Target one. Offhand with a sling, five shots slowfire then break and five more slowfire
IMG-20130310-00471-1.jpg

Target two. Offhand no sling. rapid fire pairs. raise rifle shoot one, reload on shoulder, shoot second then lower rifle.

Rifle is a Sako AII in .243 with Leup 4.5-14 x 40, purchased on CGN with my coyote loads 87 gr speer hollow points.
It's definitely an advantage for me when I use a sling, cuts down on my horizontal movement quite a bit.

I gotta try this! Just got my meat seeker back from the gunsmith, got a new recoil pad on it...Didn't have the heart to chop the barrel. Would a Styrofoam plate work for a target?
