Sticky for Ruger PCC

Hey guys. Another happy owner of Ruger pcc. Some may know that I bought the basic model and was considering back packer stock. Got some money back from cra so ordered the stock and converted. For me price of pcc that came with back stock is same as the converted one. Really happy with it.

Glad to hear it. The Ruger is a very versatile firearm likes its smaller brother the 10/22.
If you want even more options checkout AlbertaTacticalRifleSuplly new barrel and chassis offerings.

i know im thinking way ahead but wanted to know whether the following is possible...

Get the Barrel and Chassis from ATRS for ruger PCC and custom build the rifle.

is it even possible to get the receiver alone for ruger pcc somewhere ? so i dont waste money ?

Ruger are going to be the only people that can answer that so why not ask them or the importer? Given there is nothing significant about the Ruger why not buy a rifle that better meets your needs. The S&W FPC would, on the surface appear to be a better option for carrying in the bush, lighter and quicker to re-assemble to a useable form.

Take Care

Thanks. was curious.

Unlike the 10/22 I am not aware of any aftermarket for Receiver or Bolt.
There are trigger groups and now barrel assemblies and plenty of stock/chassis options but as of right now you can't do a ground up build like you can with a 10/22

Uncle Mike's does QD mounts that are same as the Magpul ones.
Most shops have em

Thanks Gimplygolden and Bob. When i was researching for the QD mount, i got stumbled upon this product on amazon.

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07BFP94KF?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

Based on the review it fits like a glove inside the hole of the magpul stock. but 10/32 screw didnt fit. So like some other user mentioned in amazon review, im thinking of putting a drop of goriila glue at the bottom and little on side.

i think its pretty much the uncle mike design or variant of it. Even uncle mikes uses glue. For reference uncle mike link

ah thanks. Do you think i need to use a screw ? i know glue is kind of permanent. i dont see a reason why i will take out other than the push pin failing.

Update: I went ahead and installed the slings. Used tiny bit of jb weld for the base and it is set in. So far looks good.

CGN user 2CentTactical posted this link a while back, and I've never seen any other reference to it. If I understand it correctly, it solves the last round bolt hold open problem by shimming under the takedown screw immediately in front of the magazine well.

Has anyone tried this on one of the problem rifles? If it works, it seems like a better solution than only being able to use certain types of magazines, or requiring extra power mag springs.

Ruger PC Carbine: fixing it for Glock mags

...

Glock Magazine Carbine: minor issue, simple solution

... the Glock magwell did not want to play well with others. Though I’d read no reports of the SR9 magazine well causing issues, the same could not be said for its alternate. In this case the last round bolt hold open did not function. It took a lot of consideration, frequent scratching of heads, and well-delivered profanity to come up with a solution.

The problem, as best I can tell, was likely due to tolerance stacking. This comes from the wide size range of each part; once you hit the extreme ends it can cause issues. When the forward bolt is torqued down the bolt hold open no longer functions (or that what’s happened in this rifle). This seems to have been caused by flex in the stock, binding the arm that lifts up and locks the bolt back when the last round is fired.

In my case, the fix was very simple. I just used a tiny piece of cheap, clear plastic clamshell packaging — you know, the stuff that should open right up but really presents enough of a fight that you wind up manhandling it until it tears or just cutting it open so your prize drops out.

I cut a small (roughly 1 in.) square hole, drilled a hole in it the size of the forward bolt, and used it as a washer.

I chose to go with plastic because it is somewhat compressible under the torque of the bolt and because it could be made wider than a washer (thus spreading out the load).

This allowed me to fully torque each bolt down and now the bolt hold-open works exactly as it should.

Does anyone make a low profile charging handle? Lots of options for extended ones, but I’m looking for something that protrudes less than the OEM. Anything out there?
