Nice, I’ll be getting .17hmr, .22 mag, and .9 mm. This is going to be a fun utilitarian platform. 5.7x28 is an awesome farm cartridge.
Too expensive for farmers, at least the ones I know. They are into cheap like 22lr, 7.62x39, etc... so I think they would love this thing in 7.62x25.

The 9" barrel version of the Mares leg is classified as a handgun. Only the ~12" ones are NR rifles.

Any idea on the costs of caliber conversions for these? I'm certainly interested in this gun!
Yes but the reason they are restricted is they are sold as pistol in the US to dodge the SBR legal fee

In Canada, almost any reason is good enough to get a gun banned or restricted...but that isn't one of them. My first Rossi Ranch Hand, which was and I believe still is NR, came to me in a nice Rossi box with THIS IS A HANDGUN in giant letters across the front. I assume this was to avoid the SBR nonsense south of the border, but it didn't affect us up here. Of course, this was a number of years ago, I'm sure the horse cops are much more tightly wound today.

Except BOTH the 9" and 12" models are handguns stateside.

The reason they are restricted is because the RCMP says so. There is no rational way to explain why the 12" mares legs are NR but the 9" ones are not. Barrel length is not part of the criteria to determine if something is a handgun or not in Canada.

Criminal Code, Section 84:
handgun means a firearm that is designed, altered or intended to be aimed and fired by the action of one hand, whether or not it has been redesigned or subsequently altered to be aimed and fired by the action of both hands; (arme de poing)

In no way does that definition INCLUDE a 9" Mares leg but DISCLUDE a 12" one. Its completely arbitrary.

It gets even better! Check out this little tidbit from the FRT for a Dlask Remington 870 with pistol grip and super-short barrel. They literally consider a PUMP ACTION SHOTGUN to be a handgun if its small enough:

Fingers crossed.

And hope the one with the folding pistol brace will be offered NR here too.
Nope. Folding would make it R. Has to be at least 26" folded to be NR, unless it cannot be fired from the folded position like a Chiappa little badger or Keltec sub2000.

The GSG15 with the 16" barrel can be fired with its stock folded. And it was a NR before they recently decided to completely made it P.

Because it's like 28" long even with the stock folded.

The 9" barrel versions don't have a folding stock, and even have an extension to ensure it can't go under 26" with the collapsing stock.

It looks like the tariffs are mostly to get people cooperating with MAGA.... if our leaders stop calling American voters misogynists and stop hating on MAGA we might be able to make a deal.

Beefing up our border and millitary is not the worst idea I've heard lately. Fentynal is a way bigger problem then guns and yet our govt has been focusing on legal guns since they took office ten years ago.

80% of Fentanyl entering the US is getting there in the possession of American citizens, and very very little of it is coming from Canada - in 2021 they seized under 20kg at the Canadian Border, vs 9600kg at the Mexican border.

If you actually think this is about fentanyl you are stupid.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe the numbers are impacted by our porous border? You seem to think that the amount we catch at the border today is the amount being trafficked?

You love to google up numbers to support your beleifs, do you trust the numbers you google when they don't jive with your thinking?
I know from past converstations you don't think that Science has been corrupted and that junk science is a thing.... I disagree and I'm not sure that makes me the stupid one.

We need better border security for many reason not just drugs..... fact is bud that the left today seems to like open borders, look at what the Trudeau did after Trump was elected the first time..... He told anyone in fear of tougher US restrictions on illegal immigration to come north and just like that Roxham Road became a thing that they then went on to claim they could do nothing about for years..... until they shut it down in one day due to a virus.

I don't think your stupid just because you see things differently Suther, you do yourself a disservice when you assume that others with different thoughts and ideas are "stupid"

It makes you look dumb, but I know, based on your numerous assertions, that you are in fact "well educated"
