Looks like average thread lengths will be reduced by about 10,000 characters without Harbl around anymore. What defect ?
N/S posted that the drill gouge in some of the barrels is not a defect ,
It was just a drill press operator going to far and the factory told N/S it is not a problem.
NO Warranty returns for gouge in rifling ! lol

Let it be known: It should be assumed by canam that if a barrel gouge is apparent on their DA t97s, as a preorder online customer and without the ability to visually inspect it myself for quality, I expect a full refund. This goes for other defects as well.
An $850 rifle should be in immaculate condition out of the box, doesnt matter if it was made in china or Timbuktu.

Ok. I personally consider a "drill press operator" going too (note the second "oh") far to be a defect. But hey, if hawk or what ever factory that made these says a huge gouge in the rifling isn't a defect, me being the loyal subject that I am will believe.

You might not want to take your chances on a Norinco then. I'm really happy with my T97 so far, but being realistic, I didn't expect a Benelli coming out of the box.

• Threaded barrel with standard AR15 thread.
• Hard anodized metal treatment.
• A bayonet lug and original M95 PLA bayonet option.
• Fire mode selector in reach of dominant hand with additional burst position.
• Improved feed ramp
• Flat-top design (m14.ca style or similar)
• Adjustable cheek rest

I think this option was tried on the first batch of type 97's and didn't go over well.

While you have Norinco on the line... They should make an NR semi-auto carbine in 7.62x25 that takes TT33 mags, a "Nearly Right' carbine if you will. I would like to see what sort of velocity gain an 18.5" barrel would provide with cheapo surplus ammo.
They could also produce a 9x19 barrel/mag conversion kit in case the surplus ammo dries up in our lifetime.

For what it's worth I've had mine for 4 Days and have put about 500 rds through it.
My Nobody Impression?
1) It's so homely its cute.
2) The trigger is atrocious.
3) What NO ambi safety???
4) IMHO a dumb place to put a safety.
I got used to the trigger and while it is indeed, poor at best ,I was getting 1/2" 5 shot groups( when I did my part) from a rest at 50 yards.
I actually like the open sights up to 50 yards but I'm afraid to say age dictates a small power scope. ^$#@%
An efficient reloading procedure will have to be learned.
In closing let me say I've never owned or know much about bull pup carbines so my observations may be moot. That being said. Does the safety REALLLLY have to be there?
See through rail on the way so next is a scope.
PS: Is re-loading 5.56 practical. I never had one of those either.

For a bullpup, the trigger on the T97 is quite good. Not as good as the Austeyr, but better than the SA80 or especially the FAMAS. I have not fired a Tavor or RFB so I can't comment on them. That safety had to have been conceived in the midst of an opium stupor, thats all I can say about that. As for the reload, try this for bullpups......
1. Drop empty mag.
2.Pivot butt(of gun, that is) on shoulder so gun is vertical.
3. Slap in fresh mag with left hand
If you really have speed in mind, reload when you have the last round chambered so you don't have to manually recharge the gun.
Reloading 5.56 is worth it if you are shooting 'premium' ammo. The el cheapo Norc ammo shoots just fine in my T97. It is so cheap that I would rather just buy another crate for $300 than handload 1100rnds. However, I do save the brass for a rainy day.( when I can find it, that is!)
