Form letters

Every wellorganized campaign sends the same letter. My business organizes a big goverment campaignevery year and we always have form letters, so that the message is clear.
Furthermore, a easy form letter will likely result in greater responses and the messagewill be clear.

I agree that a form letter would have some affect, especially if they were flooded, but there is nothing like the personal touch. I am not eloquent but I get the message across. Now if they would only reply, acknowledge or do something. What about some kind of petition. One person could take care of the petition and send it in to whomever. Just my two cents worth.

I've mailed letters, now I've sent emails out too. As long as a lot of us overwhelm these politicians maybe they will think twice and reel in their overzealous firearm techs.

I think the CPC want to pass the C-301 and in order for them to do it they are going to sell out the semi-autos.
Im sure this would be passed in the house. The goverment would fulfill there promise of scrapping the gun registry. The Libs and NDP will saveface.
All our semis will be gone to restricted or prohib class.

This would not surprise me in the least, and despite what you all might say there is some real logic behind it. There are more Fudd votes than there are black rifle/ handgun votes in the gun community. Removing the registry from the majority of gun owners would be seen as keeping a promise, throwing the rest of us under the bus would be simply unfortunate. Before you say the Conservatives would never do this to us, we've been screwed by conservatives before. The joke is however that while Fudd gets to keep his 'legitimate' firearm for now, in another 10 years the animal rights people will succeed in having hunting made illegal as unecessary and cruel. These are pretty much the same steps Britain took in becoming gun free - except that that there are still a few hunters left, for now. Read the following:

Here's some info regarding the case I referenced... I believe my post was deleted, and I received another infraction (story of my life), but here's the summary...

This is an appeal under section 67 of the Customs Act from a decision of the Deputy Minister of National Revenue dated September 7, 1994. The issue in this appeal is whether the 7.5 mm Swiss calibre SIG Model 57 rifle imported by the appellant meets the definition of a “prohibited weapon” under paragraph (c) of that definition in subsection 84(1) of Part III of the Criminal Code and, therefore, whether the appellant is prohibited from importing that rifle into Canada pursuant to section 114 of the Customs Tariff.

HELD: The appeal is dismissed. The Tribunal is of the view that the respondent correctly determined that the rifle in issue is a prohibited weapon and that its importation by the appellant is, therefore, prohibited. The Tribunal is persuaded by the testimony of Mr. MacWha, as well as its own examination of the literature provided and of the rifle in issue, that the rifle was designed and manufactured with the capability of firing bullets in rapid succession during one pressure of the trigger, that is, as an automatic rifle, and that it has been altered to fire only one bullet with such pressure, that is, as a semi-automatic rifle. In particular, the Tribunal was persuaded by the fact that the rifle in issue has a selector lever on the left side of the trigger group with three positions, safe, semi-automatic and full, and that some parts of the trigger mechanism have been removed or ground away. Moreover, the Tribunal is persuaded that the rifle in issue could easily be converted to a fully automatic rifle by a knowledgeable gunsmith.

Just a little more...

Mr. MacWha referred the Tribunal to the description of the 7.5 mm Stgw 57 Service Rifle in Jane's Infantry Weapons. The description provides that the 7.5 mm Stgw 57 is the “Swiss Army version of the SIG SG510-4 from which it differs in calibre and in several minor respects.” He then referred the Tribunal to the description of the SIG 7.62 mm SG510-4 rifle, which states that it “produces selective fire, i.e. it can be fired at either single shot or full auto” and that its operation is “[d]elayed blowback, selective fire. [8] ” He pointed out that the rifle in issue has a selector lever on the left side of the trigger group with three positions: safe, semi-automatic and full. He opined, based on his experience, that a weapon manufactured and designed to fire in semi-automatic mode only would have a selector with only two positions: fire and safe.

Hopefully this will bode well for Canada Ammo in their quest to fix the nonsense...

Letter sent to the Prime Minister. Let s**t roll downhill from there.

Make sure you are cc'ing several members. I just faxed mine to the PM, Garry Breitkreuz, Peter Van Loan and my MP. All cc'd, so they have to share them and circulate copies. Hopefully they will feel enough heat to see the light and make the CFC follow their own rules.

--- Yes, X 2, -- and more on the way tomorrow, I didn,t sign up to Live in a " Police State " !!! --- let these politicians Know How we feel !!!

OK guys here is how I see it.A letter needs to be written if there is a lawyer on here that will help draft it.I will put money out of my own pocket to have it printed into books of 50 and mail it out to gun shops in our country. your part I need to know gun shops in your areas that are serious about fighting this thing and will actually get these letters out into peoples hands and stress the fact they have to be mailed and quickly. I have 40K invested in my collection of firearms and think this is the first step in a real effort to take away our liberties.if there is a printer out there that is willing to help all the better.I will also be approaching CHAS and the edmonton shooters guild for help.I am not rich but am willing to spend a few grand to help.

It is much better to write a hand written letter. It does not need to be good. They do not care what it says, only that you took the time to write it. This goes especially for those that feel they are not good writers. Just put your thoughts on paper and mail it. Then call the office and tell them.

I just got off the phone with a tech...

The CFC does not know what the F@CK is going on!!

Regarding the classification of my Type 97 shorty - the Tech told me that, and I quote,: "The legal classification on your firearm is under review". I was told that at this point it is still registered restricted, but I am not able to transfer it at all.

I asked why I would have been told that the rifle was a 12-5 prohib and she had "no idea"

I asked her why the Type 97 would be under review, and she said that "maybe the CFC has got more information from the manufacturer"

So basically they know nothing - and depending on who you call you can get any variation of different types of information:mad:

All I can recommend is to write letters.

Clobb

How did they get your T 97 shorty? did you have to send it in ?

Its starting to sound just like I suspected, they all have thier head up thier arse.

When you call the CFC, 1 800 731 4000, you connect to the centre in Miramichi. The folks there can only give the answers which have been supplied to them. They do not make policy. If they cannot help, you need to go higher up the food chain. You could try connecting through to the FRT section in Ottawa. They should know exactly what is happening, but whether they will tell you is an open question.

Sorry if this isn't the exact topic, but what's bill C-301 in a nutshell? Something to do with semi-autos in general, figure it's relevant.
