I think the CPC want to pass the C-301 and in order for them to do it they are going to sell out the semi-autos.
Im sure this would be passed in the house. The goverment would fulfill there promise of scrapping the gun registry. The Libs and NDP will saveface.
All our semis will be gone to restricted or prohib class.

methinks it's not ALL semi's , I think it's just the SCARY semi's (black rifles) either way , not good !

I ordered one last week, after reading the these threads that let me know they even existed. Very new around here and I'm not going to rant about anything, but it is a disappointing to see a firearm "tied up" despite apparently satisfying legal requirements for firearms classification.

Honestly, the main reasons why I am quite interested in this particular rifle is that it offers a NR classification (so far) is a 5.56mm, semi-auto, and affordable. I truely enjoy my Bushmaster AR, but the restricted status just makes it a PITA to meet all legal responsiblities if you wish to travel to point "C" after the range and so on.

The fellows that are pushing for this rifle on the political side, good work, I hope it all pays off. Hopefully the system does not fail the lawful firearms owner over trival matters, when the firearm functions correctly within the limitations of Canadian rules.

Still looking quite forward to seeing one of these rifles, hope it will be my own.

Well I think the only people pulling a “fast one” is the RCMP. Judging by the confusion and the ever changing classification I think the RCMP was trying a back door stunt, it’s blowing up in their face, this is the first s**tstorm they created under their new masters and I think the reception they are getting from their political masters is different than they are used to from the old Liberal types. I suspect the senior management figured they could keep the minister in the dark as guns are not his interest, but with all the crap hitting the fan they are scrambling to come up with a justification for their actions.

yep ...

Another problem they are facing is that the current creditability of the RCMP with the public and politicians is pretty low, so saying “We know what we are doing” is not going to carry much weight. Making sure the s**tstorm is kept at a high level will sure help everyone involved. Write your MP, write the PM, Van loan, the commissioner of the RCMP, just keep bombarding them. Being dragged into your bosses office because your actions are causing the Prime Ministers Office headaches without good justification is a very uncomfortable place to be. If we can make them back down on this and make doing such stunts a career ending move, it will go a long way to ensuring due process is followed.

This episode has caused me to re-think my support for the RCMP remaining at a provincial level. I realize this won't change their Federal duties but the wing clipping should improve morale.

Whether anyone agrees or not, there will be a price to pay somehow for scrapping the LG registry, & black guns and semis are a prime target

Type 97A

I do support Canada Ammo but I am being realistic. So far I have written the following people:

The Prime Minister

My local Member of parliament

The minister in charge of public safety

The RCMP

The NFA

I too have written the PM, Van Loan, my MP, and the CFC (for what that one's worth), and sent them all emails...but it seems to me from what the tech shared with Clobb yesterday that if we want to fight this fiasco we have to consider what she said about their implied claim that these rifles can be easily converted, and fight them on that ground too with what is in law or policy or through bureaucracy, because the RCMP/CFC are holding most of the marbles right now. Use the avenues we have to dispute that implied claim, because that's the reason they are giving. ...Complaining here is just that, it's a start but it's just complaining. If you haven't written letters then start writing them. If you've written letters then post blogs, or letters to the editor of your local newspaper, or share what's going on with your non-firearm buddies and encourage them to write to the PM or MP. If you've done all that then do it some more, or do some in-depth research into the laws or research to disprove that these rifles can be easily converted as is apparently being implied.

I talked to a friend of mine who is works for as a CFO and it appears that all T97's are prohibited the official reasoning is that it is a Select Fire Military issue Bull Pup designed rifle with a semi automatic trigger group. It appears there same flawed reasoning is also at the heart of the matter of the Marstar 858 issue is the manufacture of these rifles is at issue, sounds confusing it is .Remember I am only repeating what he told me the he is not involved in policy making or decisions regarding classifications

I asked about the Tavor and was told that there would be no review,What I believe may happen is that if and when there is another shipment is imported this rifle may be reviewed at that time as the Tavor is a Military issue select fire bull pup designed rifle.

There are no immediate plans to review FRT's

Here is what I got back from the Prime Minister's office. They are good at shufflling stuff around. I had already written Van Loan but no reply from his office yet.

Dear Mr. ******:

On behalf of the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, I would like to acknowledge receipt of your recent e-mail correspondence, in which you raised an issue that falls within the portfolio of the Honourable Peter Van Loan, Minister of Public Safety.

Please be assured that your comments have been carefully reviewed. I have taken the liberty of forwarding your e-mail to the Minister, who, I am certain, will also appreciate being made aware of your views.

Thank you for writing to the Prime Minister. For more information on the Government's initiatives, you may wish to visit the Prime Minister's Web site, at www.pm.gc.ca.

Thanks for the info savage. This is BS! It's a semi auto rifle. Full stop. Now I'm pissed. It's obvious they are doing whatever they can to #### us all over and ensure that in 5 years every semi auto will be reclassified as a full auto gun.
