selector switch

I was worried about this when i saw the selector switch on the side of the lever arms rifles. Oh well, you win some and you lose some i geuss.
 
In other words, the Chinese factory cutting corners would be to blame after all ?

Well, the whole Lever T 97 fiasco is a series of screw ups perpetrated by incompetence on the part of the RCMP and thier staff
Lever's initial paperwork for the first T-97's (restricteds) required assigning an FRT.

The initial T-97 was examined by a member of the RCMP in BC, who then sent pics and e-mails to the firearms lab in Ottawa. The rifle was NEVER seen by the firearms techs in Ottawa.

So FRT was issued and Lever brought in the rifles.So they acquire a sample from Lever, have it sent to Ottawa where it is disassembled... DAMN... it's converted from "full auto"... Lever pulls their inventory and the RCMP changes the FRT classification from restricted to Full Auto Prohibited.

Now we wait for the RCMP to make a decision on the T97 that Cam Am has brought in

What about this comment then? What does this all mean? Does it mean that the RCMP used Levers gun to classify CanAm's guns?

Got off the phone with the CFC a few minutes ago. As of this afternoon my Type 97 shorty - FRT # 129257 is now a 12.5 prohibited firearm.

They are sending me a new registration certificate tomorrow and I would guess a new PAL.

I just got off the phone with another CGN member in the "know" regarding this and SAVAGE's version is correct. This seems to be a cluster F@CK from the start.

Canada Ammo is the one caught in the middle.


Anybody want to buy a commemorative Type 97 Picatinny paper weight???:mad:

I'm past getting mad about this - I'm going to call the CFC tech tomorrow and have a chat with my MP.

I'm pulling for Canada Ammo - Chris is a good guy who doesn't deserve this.

You get grandfathered and get to keep the rifle? Now that's a surprise.

I also don't see how 12(5) comes into it if it's a "converted auto".

That's what the "information officer" said to me. I'm not too up on the prohib stuff (since I've never freakin owned one) so can someone enlighten me on what the numbers mean?:redface:

It's funny, I called earlier in the morning and was told that the T97A was prohib but that my model was not. I called back this afternoon wanting to talk to a tech - but of course they were all gone home for the day:rolleyes:.

The new "officer" I talked to checked out my registration certificate again and now it was 12.5 -whatever that means!! So it had to have been changed sometime this afternoon..He told me a new reg cert would be sent out as well as a new PAL....

I'm calling the techs tomorrow for more info.

12(5) is a list of specific guns which does not include the T97, none of which were ever full-auto. If this gun is being prohibited because it was once select-fire, that makes no sense.

12(3) is for guns that were select-fire then permanently modified to semi or single shot.

Something is very wrong with what you've been told, Clobb.
