T97 News.. not good.

On the other hand, if the RCMP screwed up the initial determination of the T97 status and the T97 is made unavailable, I think it quite reasonable that they should pay financial compensation plus interest, without delay to current owners as well as dealers and T97 buyers as T97 status reversal would be a de facto admission they screwed up and must be held accountable.

Not likely to ever happen. And if it does only at the end of a long legal battle.

FWIW I happen to agree with you here.

I'm glad you posted this though, it gives new points to talk with our MP's about.

*This will run through your son or daughters mind at a critical point someday down the road.*

Long I pondered my father's
cryptic talk of victory and time has proven
him wise.

For from free gun owner to free gun owner

the word was spread that bold
CanAm and his 300,

so far from home,

laid down their lives,
not just for Type 97's,

but for all firearm owners and the promise
this country holds.

And now, here on this ragged
patch of internet called CGN,

Wendy's hordes face obliteration.

Just there, the anti's huddle.

Sheer terror gripping tight their hearts with icy fingers.

knowing full well what merciless
horrors they suffered

at the pens and keyboards
of three hundred.

Yet they stare now,
across the plain,

at 10,000 firearm clubs,
commanding 3,000,000 free gun nutz.

The enemy outnumbers us a paltry three to one.

Good odds for any gun nut.

This day we rescue a world from mysticism and tyranny

and usher in a future brighter and safer
than anything we can imagine.

Give thanks, men...

to CanAm and the
brave three hundred.

To victory!

Sir
I am writing you because the current attitude that RCMP is showing towards LEGAL gun owners is unacceptable. We follow the laws and yet we are the perceived as the problem. Looking at your articles I agree with you that tougher stances should be taken on gun crime and gangs but why are we being the ones punished ? The RCMP is changing criteria on a whim now that a private bill is up for consideration. I stress that we are not the problem we is firearms owner work, pay taxes, and try hard to be solid members of our community as opposed to gangs and thugs that prey on the weaker public. Banning any firearms has been prove many times over to be a futile attempt to rid a problem that all would like to see gone except for the drug dealers and gangs. please respond

We love this country, but BureauCraps keep abusing our love. That elaborates why every time when I sending my tax cheque and lining up a polling booth, I feel...sigh!

I just got off the phone with the office in Ottawa. I was told that as of right now, the FRT# has been removed and it is as though it does not exist for the employees who conduct transfers and that no one aside from a select few will know what is going on. She said there is a group of people that are reviewing the classification and anyone aside from this group does not have information until it comes down the line. She said the best way to get a response and more information is to email the CFC at cfc-cafc@cfc-cafc.gc.ca and express your concerns. She said this email will be forwarded to the group doing the review and they will give as much information as they can. My opinion is don't expect too much disclosure. Please start flooding them with emails and post your replies here.

sorry i missed something with all the variations of T 97 :redface: - which FRT number?

Sorry, I forgot that part. She said the only t97 that has a reference number on the table is the prohibited fully automatic model from the chinese armory or military. That version she said is from Shenzen, I believe. Basically, the restricted and Non-restricted version are no longer available until the review is completed. She did state that if you own one that you are still allowed to posses it, but no new transfers can be made until the review is over.

I should add more from what she said, someone might find it useful. I asked her about the review process and I asked who is in charge. She said no one person, but a group of people. When I asked how do they conduct their review she said that they take into consideration the law, the characteristics of the firearm and other factors.

Another addition. If you want to call the office in Ottawa for updates dial the CFC number: 1-800-731-4000 Then Press 1 and then 1, and then ext. 1090 to speak with a technician. Keep the pressure on.

No offense, but I think CanAm should add some remarks on their ad of type 97 like the "classification is under review" to give the customer a headup.

I think 'Tavor' should be a banned word, replaced with 'bambi-killer' until this blows over, to keep it from getting nailed!
