Tangent Theta scopes???

According to Nightforce, their scopes issued to US troops are made to mil spec standards and are apparently held to a higher standard than optics offered to the general public. There was recently a thread on Snipershide regarding this same thing.

No, my response - soldiers actually and occasionally update their kit and always review capability. We are defence contractors and worked with the Master Sniper Cell on the new sniper programme started in 1998 - they updated! Specs took 6 years to get accepted.

No further specific comment!

It is not for us to comment on their contracts, but I do known that they have been on a mission to meet latest milspecs regardless of cost. Not aware of anyone else meeting these standards including guess who?

Sounds to me like they really need that contract. They need an entry level line, every other optics manufacturer has recognized this, otherwise they won't be around much longer.

A company that takes the time to fine tune a product and make sure that it will meet the demand of all its potential customers instead of rushing to market like so many others have, is not a sign of a desperate company.

As to entry level,($800-1500) it wouldn't make any sense to try to do so for many reasons, including the fact that this is already a competitive market very well served with too many options as it is.

I wish them the best of luck, but I don't see how they can make it in this competitive market without a military contract when they're only making three types of very high end scopes. It didn't work for John DeLorean in the auto industry either.

Unless of course this company is a sideline to a much larger corporation that needs tax write offs.

currently there are various scope manufacturers products used by different countries armys and special forces around the world. To say none of these scopes meet the criteria put forward by the military that is currently using them does not make sense.

I can only assume that this is some small lucrative unit that has asked for something special and TT is the only ones trying for the contract. If it was a large military contract you can bet that names like S&B, Hensoldt, etc would be building to bid.

It is all speculation though without any facts being posted as to what the specs are that currently are not met by any optics manufacturer

What's with all the haters? Sounds almost like jealousy or a bunch of guys upset that another company is launching another product they can't afford. Let the scope come out and into the hands of some real world users and make judgements for there, from of the few reviews and comments from very reputable sources on other boards they sound like they will be tough to beat by anyone in the industry.

I wouldn't think it would be for the tax write offs. But Tangent Theta is a part of Armament Technologies which I do believe has quite the fair share of mil contracts on service rifles... I think they're doing ok.

In fact, as a business model (if you're going to compare to automobiles) I think they would be more akin to the relationship between Honda-Acura Toyota-Lincoln Ford-Jaguar. I might not be the best a rhyming off auto companies and their luxury equivalents. But it's definitely an established model to have one company name handle the everyday market. And then a separate to take risks and capitalize on the high end.

As for anyone in Canada with a Tangent Theta scope. I have their cheapest model (TT315M) on order. It is the cheapest... so maybe not the most worthy of a review. And I'm certainly not the most worthy to write a review. But if anyone in my area would like to have a look, they are more than welcome. DGPhotography comes to mind...

One month to wait...

The more I research this TT525P scope from Tangent Theta the more I think I'd like to try one. Just watched a 20 min video from Primal Rights who did a review of this scope. Decisions decisions.

I'm considering the TT for my Timberwolf. I currently have a S&B on it that I wish to put on another rifle. :)
