Tavor VS Type 97??

Looks like Mini 14 groups.

Except the mini 14 has an 18.5 inch barrel:rolleyes:...this was done with a 12.5 inch shorty.

To be clear this is how I shot the group - I sat down at the bench, rested the rifle on my forearm, and proceeded to shoot....it was also quite windy. Again ammo was cheap winchester wite box...

Also can anyone please show me better groups with a tavor and the mepro...This is, afterall, a Tavor VS 97 thread:cool:

Still never experience any slam fire with my 97:D

That's cheap, Ok :kickInTheNuts:

Regarding my groups, I believe it's smaller than that a bit with some AE 55gr. I will bring back the target and have some measurement next time.

coin that you see on a picture is a penny. I figure this group measures to about 1.8", shot at 100 yards from demo Tavor. You have to factor in demo piece was quite beat up by the time it got to my hands and I never had a chance to shoot "my all times best". What you see is the only group I ever shot from tavor with ammo I had in my hands.

Good shooting! What kind of ammo was it?

It was a customer who bought a Tavor. He explained his T97 went full auto. I imagine for the same reasons. He may be a member here, I don't know.

Soft primer slam fire usually only goes 2 rounds.

Sear slam fire will empty the whole mag.

It might have "doubled" but that is not full auto per se. I would have thought that every firing pin these days would be spring loaded.
I believe it emptied the mag. But I will leave any further details up to him if he is here, as it was only discussed with me in passing.

I just checked my Type 97 it also has a "floating" firing pin. I have never cleaned it except to spray down the bolt with G96. It flopps back and forth very easily. It's something I'll check on from now on. The manual doesn't show how to remove it...if someone knows how please post.

Edit: Just for clarification I've shot Winchester, American Eagle, PMC, and Military Spec 5.56 (found 3 boxes at a guns show :))through my 97 and no problems.

It is hard to compare guns from pics (how many people in here seem to do). methinks we should organize some kind of friendly target competition (demo) with both guns at the same time in the same place. that would bring some light in the matter of Tavor vs. 97 from the thread title. Anybody up for that? I will make some phonecalls and I would be able to convince someone to participate.

I'm interested...PM me with the details.
