The 10 rounds @ 300 yards cgn online challenge.

Raining and dim, around -1 Celsius degree.
If you can omit the 3 shots on the left side for re-zeroing after re-installing the scope taken off with rings on, I have the 10-shot group at 300 meters. The elevation remained the same, but windage was about 8" left after re-installing the scope.
Hammerli-Tanner in 7.5X55, reloaded ammo with Berger 30cal 175 grain OTM, ppu brass, Federal primer and 51.2 grain RL-17.
Group size: 1.517".

Hi, marshman, thanks for your kind words, you are the 10 shots 0.876" @ 300 yard guy!
Could you please take a look at my load tests @100 meters using labradar, and tell me if I chose the right load?

To be completely honest Arwho your group is pretty darn close to what that particular rifle/load and myself could do on average. I would say you nailed it with your load and would be quite competitive. I obviously had a very good evening when I
shot that group.

Lol, I was trying to quote and respond to your question.

Thanks a lot, now I have my very good evening!

I gave it a try today...4 times actually!!

G.A. Precision Crusader .308 WIN shooting 155g SMK's.

It was -2c with very little wind...nice sunny day.

Best group was 1.988" - .308" = 1.680"

The second best group was 2.254" - .308' = 1.946"

Shot prone off the Harris bipod at 300 yards. 10 shots per group.

(Sorry if I broke the rules with more than one group on a target!)

Bongobob, great shooting and nice rifle! List updated.

There have been a few entries under 2" with .30 cal rifles lately, great to see.

I enjoy seeing another 30cal with what seems like a Harris bipod, getting sub 2''.
308 is a great caliber, even if it's not the craze like the 6.5s are right now.

What i noticed from personal observation shooting next to 308s and 6.5s, for elevation it doesn't change much.
Yes the 6.5 will drop less, but your dialing in your elevation turret anyways.

For wind it makes a big difference.
Every time it acts up or down, even a little, that 175SMK pill will shift right and left to every change.
And the 6.5 guys, their caliber is much more forgiving in that sense, not always looking out for small changes in wind.

Under 500 yards the only real advantage to the 6.5's is less recoil.
I am currently sending a 155 Berger @2915fps. My elev at 300 is 0.8Mil. For wind a 6.5 still has a slight edge on me at 500, but it's not much. Once we go beyond 500 yards, the 6.5 starts to leave the .308 behind.
I used the 175SMK in competition for quite a while, there are more modern bullets now with better BC's for the weight. Sending a good 155 very fast is the way to go imho.

-7 degree-C, sunny, 11km/h wind.
Shot this 10-shot 1.561'' group at 300 meters, very glad to confirm that my reload is consistent. Hammerli-Tanner 7.5X55 using 30 Cal 175 grain bullets.

Shot another 10-shot 4.198'' at 300 meters with diopter sights which was my second time shooting 300 meters with diopter sights, turned out to be 1.222MOA. Wondering if I can manage under 3" group someday with diopter sights. The windage needs to be adjusted to the left though. Tanner 7.5X55 using 30 Cal 175 grain bullets.

Minus 9 degrees, calm, shot this wierd 10-shot group at 300 meters, the same Hammerli-Tanner in 7.5X55 as above, but the OAL of loaded ammo was increased from 2.906” to 3.001” which should be touching the land.

All my groups in this thread were shot as fast as I could without leaving the barrel to cool down, next time I will try to leave the barrel to cool down between shots to see if the group would improve.

I keep forgetting about this, finally picture proof I can do it too.........

1.660 inch 10 shot group at 300 meters, shot with a Bighorn TL3 action with 14 twist 6mm Jury barrel chambered in 6mm ppc, no turn .274 neck chamber, Bobby Hart benchrest stock with full aluminum bedding block (action is a single shot)

Tricky campbell river winds to keep everyone on their toes.....but I did it, and not just once today but I just want to post this one because I know I can do better, and will strive to get the picture proof to back it
