Slogan sling is very similar only rubber. I have both an Andy's leather sling and a Slogan. They work very much the same, the Slogan is much better at staying on the shoulder with a pack on. The rubber snugs the rifle on to your shoulder.

I made mine by some fancy braid work and some para cord. Now it's a survival sling............My brother made one of those out of webbing and buckles from Mountain Equipment Co-op for about $10 as another option.
Leupold 2.5x and Warne QR rings.
Well Im not too experienced with scopes, normally i stuck to iron sights. So hope i got this mounted right. Leupold FX II Scout scope.
why not just remove the rail if you're going to mount an optic over the receiver?
With the factory Ruger rings (#4 & #5), a Leupold 32/33mm Scope fits perfect. I run a VX-3 2.5-8x36mm on mine and I had to file down a bit in the center of the rail, but you’d have to really look to see it. A 40mm Scope would require a decent amount of material to be removed from the rail.
Removing the rail is certainly a good option. I prefer the look of the rifle with it installed though.
