The GSG 16 modification thread

Not so many modifications, more dressed up rather. I removed the front rails, added a MP5k style vert grip and a Cyma collapsable stock (much nicer than the stock stock). It has a Pursuit red dot on a Vortex mount.
Still trying to decide what handguard to use. I am looking at the Matrix Mlok they have a Evike but I am not sure if it will drop in. The MDI is too pricy IMO for this build. Considering the Magpul one but Im not too keen on it. I would however like to find a magpul stock for it and a new lower and a cocking tube.

It is super fun to shoot and only has the odd stoppage using bulk 22 ammo.

I would like to try experimenting with modyfing the trigger guard and putting in a larger trigger shoe, like a double finger trigger from a paintball gun. I takes far too long to empty those 22 round mags.

What is the overall sentiment on this firearm? Reliable? Easy to clean? Eats most ammo?

Thats a beauty - what kind of barrel cover is that?

Thanks.
It is pretty reliable. I get one or two malfunctions every hundred rounds with the chearper bulk 22lr ammo. It runs like a sewing machine on CCI mini mags. I have not cleaned it yet so not too sure.

I have purchased a GSG-16 with a 9" barrel and am ready to start modding and rebuilding it!

I have a basic triangular fore-grip and two choices of stock inbound from Tiger111HK (cleared customs in 4 days - NICE). A smooth/more HK-style lower/grip with safety is inbound from an awesome fellow CGN'er. All I need do now is source the cocking tube/charging handle/front sight assembly and find out if DropTheBomb is still making those rail delete pieces (with a small rail section) out of that newfangled plastic.

I'm really looking forward to joining the cool kids club. A lot of these builds are actually kind of amazing in their ingenuity and ability to repurpose, adapt, or outright build new parts. Reading this thread really helped. Thanks to all who have posted before.

I managed to find a 522 conversion kit so now everything is complete! Just waiting for the package to arrive
Just wondering in regards to the CYMK MP5A4 stock--I know I'm supposed to dremel the inside to let the gun slide in more before I can slide the quick release pin in...what part should I be shaving off with the dremel exactly? I don't want to shave off any more than I have to lol

I've been eyeballing mine for the same reason. Looks like the inside-top where the stock slopes down, but I haven't given it a serious fitting to test it out. Maybe in a week or two when I have some more time and inclination to get Dremel-grindy!

Here's a picture with an arrow pointing to the part of the Cyma stock you'll want to trim you'll need to do it to both sides. I was able to do mine with a small hand file, i didn't need to break out the dremel for it. Just go slow and test fit as you remove material.

Are you talking interior from the inside of the stock where it slides over the receiver or the whole "V" formed by that side/corner? Put another way, what I'm asking is, does the whole side piece need to be filed back a bit or just the inside of the hollow cavity needs to be enlarged?

You don't need to file anything to the inside of the stock, it's just the outside of the stock where it comes in contact with the receiver
