The Infidel - update w first group

already owning one of ricks custom rifles I would have no problem buying another one off of him, the service and support by far is top notch. I think making his own actions is only going to increase his reputation.

I think that's great that a fellow Canadian is making actions, barrels, rifles, etc ... as for pricing ... well either you buy it or you dont. My question is this ... why left side port? Nice looking action Rick ... cheers,

p.s. if you need wide open spaces to test these rigs out on a rifle ... NUNAVUT is your test place partner ... ;) :p

Well seeing as I will be the 1 owning the 1st action felt we should make it in the configuration I prefer.
Being totally right handed went right hand bolt, but as I prefer to shoot either prone or of the bench like having my casings eject from the left side.
The left port also has the bonus of being able to feed the rifle while not having to disturb the shooting position as I can see the port and what I am doing with my left eye while still keeping cheek weld for my dominant eye behind the scope.

We will be offering actions with standard bolt and port configurations as well as the off port option as I elected to have.

I agree completey Rick. Feeding with the inside hand makes for a lot easier shooting, and still having it right hand bolt is great.

I'm a lefty but shoot right so being able to do the more fiddly work with my better hand while still maintaining a shooting position is awesome.

Sometimes I like shooting with lefty rifles right handed for that same benefit though the bolt is on the left which is kinda awkward.

Those right handers that haven't tried a left port rifle should give it a try, I bed you'd like it.

This is a very true comment and I certainly agree after using the Nesika.
In fact I plan on selling a bunch of my right-ported rifles to eventually make room for an Infidel... :)

Maybe Rick will take pity on his old buddy and let him try out the #1 Infidel. I've got to see that this right bolt-left port business is about. I've got a feeling that it'd be like jerking off with the wrong hand, but until you try it, you never know if it's good.

I'll bet thats the strangest comparison the Infidel will ever get !! :)

What is with this jerking off stuff??:adult:
Did you not just recently get married? Or are you already in the dog igloo???:p

:jerkit: lol, I've alway's wanted to use that smiley! :jerkit: Try it..... it's like a whole new experience!:D

So it's just me and the paint fumes since Sunday.

:onCrack:

I can imagine the kind of "Infidel" related hallucinations that ensue...

I like the idea of the casings being ejected on the bench/in front of you, but if you're loading from the left port, you'll have to use your left hand, which is what's supporting your shooting bag. Wouldn't this mean actually disturbing your shooting position as opposed to maintaining it?

I guess maybe I shoot weird, but I do not support my rear bag in most cases at all. I have seen guys with different rear bags than I use shoot in the manner you describe, but I don't. My left hand rests on the stock hook only.

So you support the hook with your hand only, that's not weird, I shoot the same way, but you'd have to now let go of the hook, which would lower the toe of the stock on the floor/bench. Same thing if you use a bag: you have to let go of it. In either case, you've now moved your POI way up and have to re-adjust for the next shot (not sure if I'm describing this clearly).

I shoot with a magazine, so it wouldn't make a difference for me, but the single shot folk might have an issue.

The infidel underwent its first test this weekend. This 3-round group was shot at a hair over 100 yds.
