The Infidel - update w first group

what would a man pay for such a rifle? without optics?

That particular rifle is just stupidly costly as it is the 1st one of its kind and has some expensive and really useless options for most shooters.
Things like night vision rail and some of the minor but costly little touches I put into my own rifle

The rifles being built to same spec but with actions from a production run we are in the midst of, less NV rail and custom paint about $5000.00 depending on how you spec it out.

Whats the barrel you have on her? Details on entire rifle please?

ATRS Infidel action, right bolt left port, 25 MOA rail
Rock Creek M40 barrel 10 twist 5R rifling 22" long. Threaded for can or brake
ATRS detachable mag system
McMillan A5 stock with saddle cheek rest, 6 way butt, UIT rail, UNV rail 5 flush cups and custom paint. The aluminum parts of the 6 way butt were skeletonized and anodized.
Jewel trigger
NF 8x32 NXS scope in NF UL rings capped with Tennabraex ARD
Leupold retractable ballistics chart and US Optics swivel ACD

No way to tell as our thread diameter, tenon and several other dimensions are totally different than what a 700 is.

So if I understand the question correctly it would be like asking how much fuel economy my 5.9 Cummins would have if we pulled the engine and dropped it into a chevy.
I bet these guys have the answer

why don't you? LOL JK:stirthepot2:

On a side note, I really hate it when new guns come out, it always seems to empty my wallet.

I seen that rifle or one that was very similar when Rick was up for the ALRC in Genesee, it is very sweet and built like a rock, no pun intended.

Ok so this is a short action so you can build a rifle eventually in 223, 243 and 308? Will this action fit into an AICS stock? Thanks in advance Rick,

I just finished an AICS build in .223, what you are looking for is a REM or a clone. In my case I went with a Stiller TAC 30, since I'm a lefty. With the AICS you don't need to worry about "bottom metal". If Rick makes a "REM" clone then you are GTG. If not you need to look to another, aka Stiller.

Hey mildot, I am thinking of a build in 223 in an AICS stock ... I'm liking this infidel right hand bolt, left side port more and more ... wonder what type of barrel to go with? Trigger? Man o'man Rick and his crew make some awfully nice shizznat! :D

.223 mags for the AICS might be a problem as people have been waiting for those to show up.

The AICS stock would need to be inletted for the larger recoil lug.

Theoretically you could do it in multi-cal with a different bolt and barrel
for .223, I'm pondering the idea of making mine (prototype #2) into a switchbarrel setup to do load dev and testing of different cartridges.

It's not a true drop-in for the AICS, we'd have to mill out some material just ahead of the existing recoil lug slot as the action is approx. 1/4" longer then a standard Rem. 700.

Thanks for that striker66.

So have ATRS put this "infidel" action out for sale yet?

We have orders for some and they are in production at this very moment. All with .473 bolt faces , so anything in the 308 family of cartridges.

No immediate plan for a 223 version, but as Striker points out, a different bolt is about all it would require.

Our recoil lug is also 50% thicker than a Remington, so even more material would need to removed from the chassis to accomodate both of these added dimensions.

We spent some time today with the 223 mags and it looks like there may be a problem with them being wider at the lips than the AICS mags for the 308, which we have made our action fit.
To make the 223 mags fit would most likely mean opening up the bottom of the action and could cause bolt guide rail problems, so at this point we will stick with 308 or similar configurations.

Rick, I'm thinking about the action in terms of a basis for an F/TR rifle. What would be the action weight, complete w/ 20moa rail, in a single shot configuration?
