Gotta be belt loaders?
Yep, 2 slightly different styles. You can just make out the little C/i\ on the brass...oh heck, I'll take another photo so the true Cdn gunnutz know what to look for in a belt loader. Not that one can be too choosy, mind you.

Cool! Tell me how much did thouse cost you ??
The brass one, as I mentioned, was on it's way to the trash bin. The other one was part of a package deal....a box of assorted stuff like FN-D barrels, 150 X .50 cal dummy rounds, and a bunch of sten/AK/FN mag parts kits. Hard to say what portion was for the loader.

I shouldn't have to load any for a while. I just bought 21,000 rounds of ammo already on belts.

The loaders actually are a miracle when they are tuned up and working. I had my friend keeping the chute full while I cranked. Sure beats the heck out of trying to do it all by hand.

Edited to add: I had to travel 55 minutes away to pick up the 21,000 rounds. Not quite realising how heavy that was going to be, and wanting to save a buck on gas, I took the Honda to get them. Turns out that with the bonus pack of tracer for every belt, there were another 840 rounds there. Also turns out that each crate was about 170 pounds, and there were 12 crates. 4 crates in the trunk, 6 in the back seat, and the last 2 were in the passenger seat. My first stop was to air up the tires. I had to take it slow on the way home...80 km max. I almost made it home without incident until I crossed the railroad tracks in Douglas. That cost me the muffler.

Sten,

You really like the bigger machine guns dont you ?? :D

Dimitri

It's not a machine gun..it's just a semi auto heavy sporting rifle which happens to use a magazine device which is exempt from the cartridge regulations. :)

I like to work within the laws as they are written. I just got in one of these:

It's also exempt from the cartridge regulations, but since the guns are now safequeens, what good is it?

Wow a Bren Pan magazine in private hands! Didn't know they actually surplused any of them. Actually for that matter I dont think I ever seen one (maybe at the Military Musium but I cant remember). Always thought people who talked about them were nuts and were getting the Lewis and the Bren confused. :runaway:

Who knows maybe in about 10 years you'll be able to buy a AFFORDABLE semi-automatic Canadian made Bren you could use that with. :dancingbanana:

Dimitri

Dimitri, you seem to know your stuff.
I would be happy with one of the non-affordable Brens. As for 10 years time, I will be happy if we can even own semi-autos anymore. By then we'll be fighting to keep pictures of guns.

Supposedly, someone in the US is now making from scratch semi-auto Bren receivers. I may try to get one of these in once I find the info.

Yup, CA 12.3

100rd 303 mag is OK, but heaven help me if I get caught with 6 rounds of 9mm in an AR SMG.

If it saves just one life.....

Sten,

Keep your hopes up we will keep our semi-autos for many many years after I die of old age! :dancingbanana:

Only company I know that made semi-auto Brens was Historic Arms but they have having problems with BATEF ( http://www.jpfo.net/alert20050124.htm ). :(

About 10 years back they were available through IMA in the US for $250 each or 1K with the wooden chest and the winding tools. That was back when the US dollar was very expen$ive. A couple years ago they had a few at $500, but were sold out quickly. Now, with the semi-auto bren craze in the US, they are about 1K a mag.
I knew I would find one sooner or later. I recently found the wooden stowage box at a local gunshow, and already had the winding tool and mounting adapter.

Now I just need 3 more so I can fill the box. I have a bren carrier (under restoration) which will display all the Bren stuff.

Works real slick too. Mind you, it's kind of unneccessary for 5 round magazines.
Theres a little box on the rear of the carrier that is there solely to stow this apparatus. This was another of the holy grails that took nothing more than a bit of time searching google to find. In fact, I found two of them, so one went to another carrier nut.
